Actually, Fed has more BO5 titles than any player in the open era right now, especially if you also count his titles in which only the final was a BO5 match so not, no one is better than Fed in this regard by a "country mile".

Very funny. Fed has 16 slams and with a little luck, might add more.
What makes you think that Nadal will reach anywhere close to that? Heck, I don't even think Nadal will get to Pete's record, especially given that Djoko is around, who Nadal will likely lose to in any non-clay slam.. |

Don't think so, Nadal ending with equal or more slams than Fed is far from being an outrageous scenario.
At this point Fed would enormous amount of luck to add just one more slam. Quote:
Regarding Nadal being likely to lose to Novak in any non-clay slam, I disagree. If Novak doesn't pick up his game big time I'd only favour him against Nadal in HC slams and not as much as I'd favour Nadal against him at Wimbledon. |

I think the fact Rafa was challenged so heavily by Djokovic and saw off that challenge, has added to his legacy massively. It is the opposite of what Federer did when Rafa challenged him. And Rafa went from losing in straight sets on clay to Djokovic TWICE in 2011, to beating Djokovic in straight sets TWICE in 2012 before breaking Djokovic's heart at Roland Garros when history beckoned for the Serbian chest-beater. ![]() Also I like it how Djokovic is now considered the fittest player on tour, so when Rafa beats him its more a case of Rafa outplaying him rather than just 'outlasting' him. Before it was like people considered Rafa just a physical player. Now Djokovic is the most physical player, so Rafa can be recognized for his skill rather than stamina (as Djokovic has the better stamina now). ![]() Last edited by TeamNadal : 06-25-2012 at 04:00 AM. |

would have won...had been... Exact meaning: wishful thinking about a or several PAST event(s), but can NEVER change the past results NO MATTER how much wishing is involved. Can someone as a native English speaker correct me if I'm wrong? |

Federer has more slams so overall Federer by a bit at this point. You cant accurately compare Masters when the only best of 5 finals are on clay most of the time (Madrid indoors and Miami was for awhile), although Nadal has more Masters overall even with only 3 of the 9 on clay and most of them best of 3, so he would probably have a big edge in Masters wins in best of 5. In H2H it is Nadal obviously, by an even bigger margin than the overall H2H.
Wow Nadal winning a poll over Federer it isnt even obvious he should win on Planet TW. That must be a first.

Nadal has a higher win percentage in all of his 5-set career matches, regardless if the match went 3, 4 or 5 sets Nadal has a higher win percentage in all of his 5-set career matches when the match went into the 5th set Hard to choose Federer knowing that |

And I think this kind of points to a federer win.
Slam finals in a row Federer - 10 Nadal - 5 Longest semi final streak Federer - 23 Nadal - 5 Longest quarter final streak Federer - 32 Nadal - 11 also federer hasn't lost as early as the 2nd round since RG 2003 (1st round loss) his earliest loss since becoming a slam winner being the 3rd round of RG in 2004 on his worst surface to a multiple French Open champion. Well i guess this is just proving Federer is more solid in the slams, still debateable in general best of 5, but most best of 5 is in slams.
