"NBC says the Andy Murray-Roger Federer gold medal match drew 8.2 million viewers."
From SI's tennis twitter handle.

I'm surprised it did better than the women's final. Serena is American and Sharapova is attractive so people were guaranteed to tune in. Murray-Federer getting 8.2 million viewers means there are a lot of people interested in seeing tennis itself. Too bad it was such a lousy match on Federer's part.

Huge ratings for both, just glad tennis got the spotlight for once.
