Hey Kal-El,
I live in NYC and just bought two Pro Ones from Roman. I have some questions about string set up. Any chance we could talk? Thanks, Ryan |

Thanks, been using the Pro One for 2 weeks and having trouble getting the right feel. I'm coming from 20 years with the Wilson PS 85/Tour 90 leaded to 13.5 oz. I always strung the Wilsons with Gosen OG 17 between 58 & 62 and haven't played much for the last 4 years.
I'm getting older, I'm not Sampras, and even Sampras doesn't play with that thing anymore. Roman convinced me to try the Donnays and for the most part I'm liking it. I'm adjusting to the lighter weight, but played in a tourney last week and was amazed how much spin the younger guys were creating. First string jobs were with multi mains 55 and poly crosses 52. Multi breaks after about 3.5 hours - poly chews through it. With this set up felt just sort of meh - I know poly isn't going to have the crispness of the syn gut but I'm searching and I need access to some more spin to compete. I have to get both restrung, do you have a suggestion for full poly? How about a brand at 50 lbs? What about these super low tensions at 35? Do you do stringing? If not I'll take them to RPNY. Thanks, Ryan |

I would suggest a copoly / syngut hybrid. One of my fav's is Prince Beast 17g / Babalot Nvy 17 at 52/54.

I am partial to the Donnay X-Micron for hybrid purposes. Very soft and good durability for its type of string. If you have some tour bite, try that on the mains with something similar to that on a cross and you should be good to go. don't be afraid to try a full bed of a good co-poly either

Thanks guys. I've decided to try an adapt to new stuff. I'm having both string with full poly. One at 50lbs an one at 40lbs. We'll see how it goes, if not I'll have one stung with syn gut and one as a hybrid after. Time to try and catch up with the kids.

So I had my first decent hit with my new Pro One 18x20 this morning.
Wow. So stable and came through the ball very nicely. Makes my IG Speed 18x20 and Prestige MP feel tinny in comparison. Having a better hit out tonight so will see how it goes then but loving the feel so far. Strung with Solinco Tour Bite 17 @ 55 |

I'm so glad I didn't sell my Donnays. I love the 25PMPs, but I just win more with the Donnay.
I can dictate more, I can set up the point so much better, finishing at the net or from the back. Why do I torture myself so much? Played a league match today against a tough grinder, and just pushed him around and won 3&3. I lost to him twice last year 0&3 and 6-2 in the third with the PMPs. I wish you all could slap me when I reach for the Prestiges.! (thanks for allowing me the therapy)

Well, I'm back to my P1's....been using the Blade 98 lately as I have been playing lots of dubs and the Blade does volley a little cleaner. Today in my city league I had to a play singles and was getting hit off the court by a 55 year old with a Pure Drive. After losing the first set 6-2, I switched to the P1's and came back to win the second set 7-5. The P1 can match the PD for power, and it volleys a lot better.

I don't know, I just felt like the Blade was getting pushed around off the ground, it wasn't until I switched to the P1 that I had the confidence to hang in there on the baseline.

Both have around a 330 swingweight. Both have pretty good power and both are in that middle ground of players/tweeners racquets, also they both lean more towards "player" than "tweener". How else would you compare them besides stability? For the record, I thought they were both among the most solid under 12 oz. sticks around, but the P1 is about 1/2 oz. heavier in static weight and that may give it a slight advantage in stability.

From a sweet zone VS. power map, it looks like both Pro One and Blade 16x19 2013 are similarly powerful.
And this is for Blade 18x20 2013 VS. Pro One 18x20 comparison. P1 18x20 is slightly more powerful with larger sweet zone.

guys, if you had wilson NG mains and mosquito bite or another copoly in the crosses, what tension would you recommend on the pro one 16x19?
