Worse slippage strings i've ever had to deal with are definitely xcel / premier LT. There are a couple of 18 gauge syn guts I've done but I can't remember the names.... A starting clamp can help but I hate how it always creates ghosting and seems to flatten the string.

ive used several synthetic guts, polys, and multis but never natural gut and all to the same effect.

my old klippermate (it was branded Court & Slope) had a linear gripper and a crude ratchet. i loved that machine. Bought it used in 1984-5, somewheres about. it had to be a handful of years old at that point. Also, it had a crude 6 point mounting brace sorta rig, seemed to be an add on of sorts.
vise grips, one of them aluminum floating clamps. no starting clamp. it was great. gimme another beer! |
