Default Lacoste Clothing

I was just looking at the Lacoste clothing here on TW, I had never really paid much attention to it before. Anyway, I was kind of surprised at the prices of this stuff. I knew it was expensive but it is way more then I expected. So my question to any of you who have any Lacoste shirts or shorts...is this stuff that good? Can they possibly justify those prices or is it a status symbol thing?

It's a status thing for the most part.

Even Nike and Adidas are a status thing.

I kinda figured that. You can buy two adidas items for nearly what you pay for one Lacoste.

It's on par with the top of the line Nike clothing in terms of price. It basically becomes a matter of which brand you pick.

I became a pretty big Lacoste fan a few years ago, just because Roddick.

Since then, I have special sport shirts, caps, wristbands.
Before, I had Nike and Babolat clothing. But, I don't have any experience with the expensive part of Nike, you know, the Federer and Nadal stuff...

So, just to be short, Lacoste is way bettetr than everything I have had, I know it is expensive, but when a new collection comes, the old ones all goes on sale everywhere on the internet. Auction sites also have some great deals... So, it is that good, really. I can't say anything bad about the material!

I agree with you about the pricing. The polo shirts are A+ and last a long time because of the material (cotton ones). I just saw one at the local tennis shop that is a "retro" version- $92. I REALLY liked it but held back buying it- for now. They have nice colors as well.

but does the material last a long time to make it worth it. ? i know it feels good on your skin. but even after it goes on sale at TW, it is still like $40, for a T-shirt. which is pretty expensive.

I don't have cotton t-shirt, so I can't tell you anything abot them. I just know the Lacoste sport line, the Super Dry material, 100% poly. It is a truly great material, I have a black shirt, which is blacker than anything I have, and still the same, after a year at least, and a wash every second week.

Back a about 5-6 years ago when all of the Lecoste was still made in France, I understood the price. But now with the cotton shirts made in Peru and the Polyester performance shirts are made in Indonesia. The price is completely unjustified. Don't get me started on the price of the hats made in some impoverished nation. Can you imagine Fila still trying to get Made in Italy prices they used to with their stuff now made in China. Fila brought down the price of their products now that it is made in Asia.

I got the FO 2009 Roddick Shirt on sale for $45 and it's very very nice. I love the material, but some of the stuff catches very easily so I feel a bit uncomfortable wearing the shirt sometimes haha.

Maybe the Lacoste stuff isnt all made in slave shops in China and they pay the employees more than 50 cents an hour?

And I have it on good authority that the workers in Indonesia get 55 cents an hour.

Lacoste clothing, while no doubt usually well made, is not a good value. The brand is a luxury brand. Luxury brands can charge more because they are status symbols.

If you like the item and will wear it a lot, then on a per-use basis, it isn't necessarily a bad buy. But don't kid yourself into thinking that Lacoste is a good value brand.

WTF is wrong with your keyboard? It's like reading a note from a 6 year old. Or are you typing one handed, again?
