Question Which racquet do you recommend for my 11 year old son

He recently turned 11 and is one of the best in his age group at their club.

He has good control, can provide good ball spin but need a racquet that provides better speed/power, he has a Wilson 6.1 Team 18/20 now and we strung it with natural gut/poly (46 lbs/21kg)) and it got better but I'm not satisfied.

He is short for his age, but very strong, I was short also but caught up in high school and went by my friends.

I think that next racquet may well have 16/19 string pattern.

What racquet would you recommend?

Demo a few racquets and see which one he likes.

In my area the babolat pure drive is one of the most popular with the juniors. I personally am trying to move my son away from the babolats due to the stiffness. He is currently in the process of switching to the new wilson blade 98 16x19 and loves it

Thanks for your replies!

He has a Babolat Aero Pro Lite GT 18/19 but he never liked it, it may also be due to stringing and string.

I'm a little curious about the Wilson Steam 105s, does anyone know if it might be a good choice for a junior who wants to get more speed?

I will buy a stringing machine so we can experiment with different strings.

My son is 9 yrs (fairly small at 52 inches and 72 lbs) and this weekend I got him a Blade Lite strung with Forten 16g at 59 lbs (Racquet Tune reported 47.5). His first reaction after hitting for 2 hours was - "I could hit the best flat shots I ever did and I could pick drop shots 6 inches above the ground and still get them across the net and surprise my coach." I could interpret it as that the racquet is giving him good power and he is loving it. Worth a demo if the specs look good to you and they are going at $69 a piece these days.

My 10 year old plays with the blade lite. IT is an excellent choice and value. We are looking at the juice 100L because it is a little more substantial. MY son is big for his age. He is 62 and 1/4 inches tall and 93lbs.

I don't know what level he is playing at but i (as a junior) would not want to play with oversize racquet because it would be just way too much power. Also if he wants to ever hit flat i wouldn't want to get him one of the new steams, because of the 15 x 16 string pattern. Now if he really wants spin then get him it but i really doubt anyone wants that much spin. Try an APD 2013, a juice and other 'tweener racquets, as they will get you more spin

Swingweight of the steam 99s is 330. That is probably too much for someone this size.
