On the Klipper web site, my racquet's range is 53-63 lbs.
But on the actual racquet frame, says 50-60. Which one's right? Oh, and this is for a Wilson nPro Open, midplus headsize. |

I'd believe more the info on the frame itself.

You probably have a newer version of the frame. Sometimes the patterns don't get updated on that site if there are multiple versions of a frame with no actual pattern change. Trust the frame.

There isnt' a correct tension Mike. Just have it strung in the average of the frames suggested tension and see how that works. If you hit too many balls out, then have it strung tighter (higher) next time. And if you hit too many balls into the net or too short, then have it strung with a looser (lower) tension. HAVE FUN EXPERIMENTING!!!! Oh yeah! to answer your question, I'd trust the racquet's suggestion over a any other source except the manufacturer's info.

Thanks for the replies. I had it strung at 58 at the local sports store. I just got my own stringer and strung it at 60. Seemed kind of like a board, so I think I may go back to 58, which seemed pretty good.
Anyone have suggestions on strings to try? I started out with Gamma Gut (what I used to play with as a junior), then tried a Gosen syn gut. Honestly didn't feel a big difference, but maybe just b/c it was strung really tightly. Now I'm going to try Prince Gut, both with and without Duraflex (one on each racquet to compare). Also planning to try NRG, which people here seem to like. |

If you want something that last a little bit longer with a stiffer feel, go with poly's like Babolat ballistic or Kirschbaum honey. They are about the same price as regular syn. gut but last longer. on the down side, it is harsher on the arm and looses tension quickly. For a little bit more, you can try babolat pro hurricane or head ultra tour. A little bit softer, last just as long, but doesnt loose as much tension. This just cost around 3-7 dollar more, but i think it is worth it imho. There are other strings that are in it's own league like Gamma TNT, Laser Fibre laser supreme, Wilson enduro tour, and such that seems to be in it's own league. Just test it out and you will see what im talking about. GOOD LUCK!!! p.s. even though you string a rqt at 58 lbs with one string doesnt mean that you can string 58 lbs with another. This is where you really have to experiment. For poly's i would string it either 2 lbs or so tighter despite what the string manufacturer suggest. Others may disagree, but you really have to test it out yourself.

Thanks, John.
I just put both Prince guts in yesterday. I think I prefer the classic Prince gut to the duraflex. More of a pop and crisp feel, though I guess that's pretty subjective. I would like to find something that's a little softer -- I really like a crisp feel, but my shoulder gets sore a lot more easily now than when I was younger. Especially on days like today when I hit a few hoppers of serves. |

I string my OpenX at 55# if I'm using poly strings. I also like 18g kevlar (Ashaway) for the spin generation and I string them lower paired with Gosen crosses.
My buddy strings his Open with a full TF NRG 17g job at 58# and he likes it after about 2 hrs. of hitting. |

Be safe. Assume the tension range is 53-60.
