Default Does anybody know who this guy is/was?

He was obviously a pretty good player if it was televised with nice cameras.

warning: this involves a pretty nasty ankle injury. The squeamish should not look at the link.

Yep, that's who it is. I'd be shocked if it's not Stich. Don't know of any other player who's gangly like that, with a mass of brown hair, and RH. I've done that countless times to my ankle, and it freaking blows.

I something like this a little over 2 years ago playing
basketball. My right outer ankle bone bounced off the
ground after landing one someone's foot. Hurt a bit.
Made me decide to stop playing basketball and start playing
tennis again instead.

He's using Fischer, so it's probably Stich. Must have been in his younger days.

That's GOTTA hurt.

The amazing thing is that after he (Stich) rolled his ankle, he was playing on tour again within a couple of months.

It wasn't a broken ankle, just a sprain. He didn't miss much time(this was October '95, he was back in time for the '96 Australian Open. He even made the FO final that year)

I've seen Sampras & Ivanisevic have similar sprains, its not that uncommon.

I'm curious to see footage of Chesnokov fracturing his leg in multiple places during a match, can't figure out how that's possible for a tennis player to do.

yeap, I didn't mean "broken" literally. but the video clip looks so scary that it almost looked like the foot was falling off his ankle. ouch. I remember Sampras sprained ankle couple of times, some on clay court (while sliding) and some on hard courts.
