Based on http://www.photostringer.com/ or your own experience whats the best table top stringer up to $250 (including shipping) that one can buy?
Thanks much!

Swiss
I learned on a Klippermate years ago and thought it was a solid machine. However, I am not a fan of Klipper's string gripper. I now own a Gamma X-2 and have been stringing on it for a few months. The only complaint I have about the Gamma X-2 is the bulk of the flying clamps. I ordered metal flying clamps from Eagnas and that made life so much easier. (I would not suggest you buy a stringer from Eagnas/Maxline. The have a reputation for offering poor customer service.) IMO both are quality machines with a good reputation. Both are also under the $200 mark. *The Silent Partner Swing is another solid machine with a good reputation. Hope this helps! |

The Alpha String Pal is only $129 here...inludes a linear string gripper not found on other low-end models. Alpha's pre and post-sales support is excellent.

Nice find Redflea!
Alpha has a great reputation and a linear string gripper is nice because it is less likely to damage the string. I considered Alpha before I made my purchase. |

I have the SP Swing. Really solid machine. It's not a true 6pt mount, but it gets he job done. The SP synthetic that comes with it is also really nice. (I would say better than PSGD or Gosen OG)

I won't recommend it yet, but I just bought a Gamma X-2.
You can get them for $131 shipped. Check out this thread for good recommendations from posters on this board; http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=106833

$250 is a tweener price. There are decent entries at the $150 price point, but moving up to a machine with fixed clamps is well worth the cost. $400 for the Alpha Pioneer DC is stretching your budget, however.
I personally wouldn't recommend the $320 Mutual Power Herc 610, as the folks at Mutual Power can be as rude as the Eagnas CS employees, just without the attitude of default hostility (patience, however, is quite another thing...). The machine quality isn't as great as Alpha's either. |

i will admit the guy is sort of an ******* at mutualpower and wouldnt just send me a new tension scale (just a freaking sticker) instead he wanted to charge me 20bucks but the machine hasnt had any problems so it works for me until i can find a cheap used crank and upgrade it to a wise tension head

Hey Swissv, just curious, did you decide on a stringer?
I'm kind of looking in the same ballpark... |

Hey WhiteSox: run out to Elgin and buy your Klippermate at the shop. You might find a factory second at a good price; that's what I did.
