Her brother is awesome. I mean absolutely awesome. I was concerned about the cell phone being home and if in an emergency--there was no one to call.

I love this kid to death. I raised him since he was in diapers until he was 5. He loves his sister, would do anything for her, etc. I hack Webkinz and make him cash there to play even though he is no longer my son.

The reality though, is a 9 and 5 year old without any communication to any parent is unacceptable. The mere fact that her mother was gone that long without communication with her kids left me livid.

I went off on Justin G for that and Fee as well. I'm not proud of it.

I wasn't. But more importantly, my brother and his wife did not leave their boys alone that young. I use them as a more recent barometer since times have changed, I suppose. I think 9 can get a phone call to CPS in some states.

On the plus side--Spring Break is soon and I get 11 days of my angel without her mom. Life is going to be bliss in the beginning of April. No tennis--but a plethora of hugs, snuggling, kisses, play-doh, Hannah Montana and more...I cannot wait.

Odd, I certainly remember walking home from school, and being home from 2:30-6 or 7pm or so by the time my parents would come home from work. My mom didn't work every day, as she was in a restaurant, so would work days and nights depending.

If I wanted to go over to my friends house to play, or go play tennis, I just had to leave a note saying who's house I went to or where I went to play tennis. And I had to be home before dark. And bedtime was 8pm.

difference between boys and girls perhaps? My brother has 3 boys, I think he refused to leave them alone because they might burn the house down, they are an 'energetic' trio, including a set of twins. Perhaps that had something to do with it. I don't have kids so I don't know what I would do, probably lock them up until they went to college.

No more mullet. And my daughter thinks it is kick-*** that I get e-mails from Hannah's daddy. She literally flips out when I read them to her. She brags all the time at school about it.

Yea, I was an only child, and a bit beyond my years in most things. (tried to make up for that recently, and failed)
