Rios is very talented, which I think most people would agreed upon. Just that he has mental issues and no gut as some people refered to him. I was blown away years ago when he played Agassi down in Florida (Forgot the Tournament name) many years ago. He make shots effortless like Federer. And the winners are incredible. He won the Final against Agassi. I was impressed with him. We can all agreed that no one will respect him in the game of tennis and I don't think he cares. Lets leave it at that.

Saw him on an outside court at Roland Garros three years later. Spotty five setter against Ferreira. |

So much talent, so wasted. What a shame.
He can't be helped as he doens't want help. Its like he doesn't belong on the main or senior tour. |

Federer used to act like a child on the court. Then he grew up. Some people never do unfortunately. If Rios hasn't by now, he probably never will. I think most people feel sorry for him, but unless he's a moron he just doesn't give a ***** at times and doesn't mind showing it (we all have our moments).
Yes, there is wasted talent, but who knows why he's the way he is or was on tour. Maybe he his life was more difficult than we realized?? |

They both had better all-around careers than Rios.

If you grow up with a tennis racquet in your hand, you have all the opportunities in the world. A person can either grow up poor and become a bum, grow up rich and become a spoiled brat, or grow up under any circumstances and become a role model.

Look at Agassi.
He was not the role model growing up but we all knew how well he turned out. Agassi's family isn't rich and luckily Agassi turned himself into more then a great tennis player. Rios will always be a tennis underacheiver. Unless he does something good for mankind or society away from the tennis scene, he will be the bad boy who will always have himself. |

2-1. Yeah, wow. He really owned Agassi. And those wins were in 1998 no less, when Agassi was still digging himself out of the ditch of being 141 in the world.

Some days Rios just isn't into playing. His game obviously takes a lot out of him, and when he is depleted, he just mails it in. Again, probably why he isn't out on the tour grinding away. He could grind out a million or two a year still, but maybe his wives are taking most of it anyways. Does he have any kids?

In the last 15 years that I've followed live pro tennis and have watched many pros' matches and practices, I haven't seen anyone with better hands on the court; Rios had great feel for the ball and could win points with such ease, like no other player could do. The best practice session I've ever seen was between Rios and Ivanisevic at the end of the 90s, when Ivanisevic was still very good; Rios was toying with him on the court! As for his personality, I also agree it was problematic.

Does he suck? No. Does he do blow? Probably.
