He has swapped, but to my knowledge, he is playing with a one off. His 200G has a 16X19 string pattern.

The new HM 200G XL has a 16x18 string pattern, so maybe it is it.

I just found this, http://www.tennis.info/PicturesDetail.asp?id=2360.
It looks like 16 X 20... so this is a one off...

So ... John McEnroe plays with .. a custom racket. Wow. It looks like his handle is custom-molded, too. But this thread would be much better with actual current specs as the most important specs are the ones you can't see anyway .. Just my opinion.. *yawn*

Tennis magazine had an article on J'Mac's customized Volkl , noting that it was slightly heavier(around 13 oz.) and a bit more headlight than the standard tour 10(or whatever model racket he was using). This new racket is probably the same spec.

That pic of him throwing the racquet does NOT look like an extended length racquet so I don't believe it's the new 200G XL. It is probably a customized standard length HM 200G. Also, on the new 200G XL, the "DUNLOP" logos on the 3 and 9 o'clock areas of the head are black colored or clear with white outlines. On the regular 200G, the logos are white or silver like the one in the pic.

Besides, McEnroe is so old school he refuses to even use an overgrip or synthetic grip and insists on using a bare leather grip (as in the pic). I'd bet he still uses only all gut strings, too. So it doesn't surprise me he wants a 13oz., flexible, standard length stick with a leather grip and gut strings. Remember, he did win most of his Grand Slams with a wood racquet, so he probably wants to replicate that feel.

Good call Tom, but it would entail a truck load of racquet bags to be on court each time
