My advice is not to wait for tournaments to come to you but for you to go to them. Nashua has one almost every weekend. Doubles tournaments count towards singles points and no one really plays in those so go for those. Um, Level 6's give you way more points (if you win a Level 7, you get about the same # of points for getting to the Quarters in a Level 6). New England only takes your 8 highest scores, too, so be aware.

yea, definitley play as many tournaments as possible i play in t he 14's and regularly beat people ranked higher than me because i've only played 4 tournys

BTW i think the doubles counting towards singles only counts starting next year?, or maybe it did start this year, can someone clear this up?

i live in Chelmsford, MA

Yeah, I did mean Nashua, New Hampshire. Nashua actually draws a lot of good players by the way. Level 6 tournaments are supposedly more competitive than Level 7 tournaments (they offer more points as well). Occasionally in a level 7 tournament, there will be a no namer who will be surprisingly decent and should be playing level 6. As for level 6's, many of the same kids will appear in the draw tournament, after tournment. But for what its worth, I recommend level 6's.

yea i have found Nashua to be a much tougher place to play than others because it holds a tournament every weekend, its a nice place and because of these things, is very popular. You can find other tournaments in places like Vermont and Maine or even other places in MA whose which level 6's have less people and are less competitive than Nashua's level 7's. The other places level 7's are even better, i've had draws of 16 or less before

You can check online. I would post the link, but the USTA site is down right now. To find the tournaments, you go to the juniors section, and then to the schedule section and enter New England and like your age division. They stopped sending the books with all the tournaments in it, too.
