Default What was that on Roddicks shirt . . . ?

Was that a map of the NYC metro area with subway stops? Its probably just me, but it was hideous.

I'd have to agree, that shirt didn't look good at all.

I think... it was meant to look like the lights of NY at night. Maybe placed over a map or something. It was hard to tell on TV. Maybe if I was watching a broadcast on HD I could make it out. But as far as for TV and even at a tournament (because everyone's looking at it from afar), it just didn't work.

It sort of seemed to misunderstand why athletic wear is typically composed of primary shapes and simplicity in design.

He talks about it in his interview. But Serena's outfits are eclipsing the stage in terms of fashion statements at the Open.

ROFL, I noticed a Reebok print ad in which he wearing both the paint accident shirt and the other one he's been wearing. I specifically thought, GEEZ! Guess he had to wear that for the ad, but I guess he'll never wear that in real life....sadly,(and painfully for us viewers I was mistaken!

That was the ugliest shirt I've ever seen, hands down. I'd much rather be out there in a mullet, neon colors, and acid wash denim than what Roddick was wearing. I can't believe any self-respecting person would let a company dress them up like a clown.

Dudes (??) from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, you are being called for a "fashion emergency" in NYC, Flushing Meadows. The rescuees attend by the name of Andy and Serena.

Hurry, please. My eyes are burning!!

What about the matching hat? A touch of class!!

The shoes were actually cool, though. Pumas?

Heard one commentator defer to JMac's opinion of the shirt given that John M. is a novice"painter" himself. He mumbled something about geometric abstract or some mumbo jumbo. It is funny how commentators really cannot call it like they see it...ala Serena and the Emperor has no clothes syndrome.

It's just a map of the New York subway system. JMac obviously didn't know that... unless maps are geometric pieces of art :P

Is this the shirt you all are talking about?

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/desc...K-RMRBKCC.html

The description reads: This ultra-hip, urban-looking crew is a must-have apparel piece that will be seen on Andy Roddick at this year's US Open. A map of the New York City subway system is transcribed onto the shirt for a unique and modern twist that will get you in the spirit of this year's last Grand Slam event. Crew top features Play Dry fabric to keep you comfortable and cool and the Reebok logo on left chest.

If I start seeing that shirt on people on the street, Roddick will have done his job.

It looks like a FUBU or Phat Farm shirt to me. They should put posters of Roddick up in Urban Menswear stores. LMAO. That shirt and hat would look sweet with some yellow timberlands.

I didn't realize that really was supposed to be New York's subway!

John Thomas, Kevin P and other might remember that Edberg's awful shirts from around 1990 were jokingly referred to in the media as maps of New York's subway system....now we actually have that shirt...who'd have thunk it?

Truly we live in a wondrous age...

Come on guys, when you see a shirt that shows you a route to get FAR FAR AWAY from wherever said shirt is... you can take it! The path to getting the hell away from whoever is wearing that shirt, that is

Another good use of the NY Subway system

Or stated another way: "Nothing says get the hell away from me like a map of the subway."

Let's assume a Feddick final (sorry, couldn't resist)... It's part of a ploy to distract Federer on return of serve as weird shapes appear and cause hallucinations during Roddick's service motion. Also, Fed can't focus on the ball because he's just in awe of the apparel. It combines with the sound Federer hates the most, but has to bear the most at Flushing Meadows... jumbo jet traffic! (They should have made a "Jumbo-Camo" shirt for Andy, strike fear in specific opponents)

BTW, Roddick's new shoe... the new Pumps.... are those actual pumps, or are they just called that now?

I was thinking that very thing about the Emperor has no clothes syndrome when I would hear the commentators nervously hedging with their opinions! LOL

Federer's simplicity is so refreshing isn't it? His clothes always fit perfectly and the colors are right.

I usually like Federer's apparel, especially lately... but I have to say I was not a fan of the tie-dye or whatever design by Nike he was endorsing for awhile in 2003.

I didn't see the tie-dye. I love the white shorts and solid t-shirts with matching head bands. Simple and elegant.
