Default Tennis Coverage on CBS

I get just as mad every year at CBS for their horrible coverage of the US Open. It's like I'm watching their Commercial coverage, which is interrupted only occassionally by actual tennis.

Please let USA have the entire coverage.

I agree. The major networks in the usa are horrible when it comes to covering tennis. So far, USA, Foxsports, and ESPN has been very good so far.

i can somewhat agree. After a couple minutes of commercials, they were on the air for not even 2 minutes, and went back to more commercials.

I will say it again. Ted Robinson and Bill McAtee are the best play by play guys on US television. Usually on topic without all the ego/pomposity of an Engberg or Drysdale.

CBS the other night, during the half hour daily round up, didn't even show a single point, or even acknowledge that one of Henman's matches had even taken place, and every other match they showed like, one or two points, and that was it, then they prtoceeded to use a full 15 minutes of their allotted half hour, to show some no talent female singer songwriter sing a terribel song out of tune, and some inane white rapper commedian talking crap.

Patrick mcenroe should be ashamed of himself, to be associated with such terrible coverage.

Default CBS

CBS usually pays close attention to the event area and Flushing Meadows venue. They like the off-field stories and tend to dwell more on who is wearing what, the behind the scenes, the coaches, relatives of players, etc. Although that's nice to an extent, and USA is sometimes guilty of it too, I prefer play by play and sideline reporters who talk about the game of tennis, not the stories behind the sport.
I guess we should be lucky the grand slam is being nationally televised at all though.

I think USA's coverage has been extremely good. Tons of coverage and excellent diversity in match selection. They've done a great job of staying with matches that are entertaining regardless of the players marquee value here in the US. I've never heard so many people complain about their glass being only half full. Maybe USA should resort to just showing the final. It seems that the more coverage they commit to, the more people find to complain about.

Thread starter is complaining about CBS, not USA.

I'm looking forward to Monday because I can't stand CBS anymore. Unless there's a "featured" match going on, they will flip through all the courts showing one game from each then jumping to commercial every 2 minutes. Disgusting.

USA, on the other hand, rules!

Ya, how bout Saturday when there would be 5 mins of commercials, one game from Federer's match, some preview of Serena to come or whatever, commercials, a quick update of the scores we already know, commercials, 1 game of some random match, one half of a fed game, commercials, ETC.

And please don't tell me I'm the only one with this problem. When you watch CBS (only CBS), do you get that double screen effect? Where you see the court twice, with the second one like blurred out and you see double of everything? It's SO ANNOYING. I've tried 3 different TVS, like that on everyone and only on CBS. One of hte 3 largest broadcasting companies in the world, and can't even get their cameras to work. It also was so bad that I turned it on earlier, and it was working fine, then bout 5 mins into the broadcast it blurred and the screen shifted. It's horrible
