Wilson Launches [K]Factor Technology at First Ever Global Event in Las Vegas Chicago, IL | Posted on February 28th, 2007 Wilson Racquet Sports, the world's #1 brand in tennis, officially unveiled [K]Factor, the newest evolution in racket technology, at a global launch event today in Las Vegas. Combining the next generation in nanotechnology along with three unique frame engineering innovations, [K]Factor delivers the ultimate level of [K]ontrol for all types of players. World #1 Roger Federer, who played an integral role in the development and design of the new [K] Six.One racket, addressed the audience from Dubai where he is playing the Dubai tournament. In response to what [K]Factor does for his game, Federer states, "The [K] Six.One gives me incredible feel. With [K]Factor, Wilson has taken racket technology to a whole new level and I love what it does for the control of my game." Federer switched over to the [K] Six.One last month at the Australian Open, where he swept the Men's Championship without dropping a single set. "[K]Factor represents a huge breakthrough in racket technology because it consists of not just one technology, but rather four exclusive technology innovations that work together to give every player the [K]Factor difference. It is a true technology system, and the result of this system is incredible control," says Jon Muir, General Manager of Wilson Racquet Sports. "It has clearly made the difference already for Roger and Serena (Williams, 2007 Australian Open Women's Champion), and we are very excited to provide this difference for players of all levels." Building on the nanotechnology platform that began with Wilson's top selling nCode line, [K]Factor now takes the process to the next level by introducing Karophite Black, a breakthrough structure created when bonding Carbon Black, Graphite and SiO2 together at the nano level, creating a denser and stronger racket matrix. Wilson then added exclusive frame engineering technologies to produce the comprehensive [K]Factor racket series. These technologies enable players to maintain power while providing them with the ultimate level of control. The four key umbrella technologies of [K]Factor include: * [K]arophite Black * A proprietary next generation structure created through a unique process at the nanoscopic level resulting in more feel and an even stronger and more stable racket. * [K]onnector * 2 external wings molded into each side of the hoop to increase dwell time of the ball on the string bed upon impact. This provides greater control and comfort with a larger sweet spot. * [K]ontour Yoke * New frame engineering technology that enhances stiffness at key stress points on the racket for improved torsionnal stability. * [K]ompact Center * New Industrial design innovation that improves handling and maneuverability while providing additional feel. Directly inspired by World #1 Roger Federer. The new [K]Factor models will begin rolling out in stores starting in late March and April 2007. Consumers are already able to purchase the [K] Six.One models, including the [K] Six.One Tour, which is made to Federer's exact specs and features his signature on the frame (suggested retail price - $209). The other rackets in the series feature the same [K]arophite Black technology, as well as a combination of the other[K]Factor technologies, allowing consumers to select a frame suited specifically to the needs of each player to maximize control. The [K]Factor racket line ranges in price from $189 to $350. |

There is enough material in here to keep BP occupied for years
PS: Anyone seen these wings they are talking about? I couldn't see them when I examined a K90 last week. |

The wings are on the side next to the (k)tchen sink. They were going to add (K)ryptonite under the grip, but they wore out the K key on their keyboard while typing that announcement.
Honestly? Anyone falling for any of that? |

By most accounts here, it is a good racquet. And based on the discussions here, people would willingly shell out $200, even if Wilson was a little bit restrained about the damned [K]'s. |
