We have the technology, look at Barry Bonds. How would you improve the best player today? Stronger, faster, less bodyfat, better serve, where do you begin?

I'd give Federer a dropshot. He said it himself that he wishes he could hit dropshots like the claycourters.
Then I would give him elite volleys like Henman. Then I would pay for some backhand lessons with Guga so he could improve his already 1337 angles and spin. Then I would watch as he goes undefeated for the rest of his career. |

Giving him a shot of personality would certainly be an improvement.

He certainly can come to the net more often with his volley skill. He can certainly improve his low volley and half volley.

Federer hasn't won the French Open yet. If he does it should add another dimension to his game whether it's physical, technical or mental. These gains if they occur can cross-over to a degree to his play on other surfaces. I said it before and I say again, we haven't seen the best of Roger Federer.
He can still get metally stronger. Also at 5-4 second set he didn't bang four unplayable serves to close out the set at the first chance. |

ant, saw Fedex' arms holding the trophy and immediately thought of Barry Bonds, Ivan Drago, Steve Austin, Pete Sampras....................how do you pump him up without losing the greatness of his game.

Federer can volley. But his serve is not good enough. I doubt it can be improved.

He needs to win all four slams in a year then do it again the next year to prove it wasn't a fluke. Then do it again to prove he's still motivated.

The best way to improve Rogers dominating game now would be to bringon better competition. He has the allcourt game to beat any of todays baseliners and the small remainder of remaining allcourters and serve/volleyers. Roddick will need to add more allcourt skills. Hopefully some new Sampras, Rafter and Edberg type players will develop to challenge his future slam total which is now on a Sampras type rate which giving good health and luck, will make him one of the best ever !

He is already so dominant. Do you want the rest of the field to just pack up and go home?

Roger doesn't have the fastest serve, but it's a good serve. Roger isn't the best volleyer, but he's a damn good one. Roger's forehand is not the, actually it is the best right now, but my point is that Roger doesn't need to be the best at everything to be the world's number 1. Roger is a great all around player and that's more important than being the best at any one thing in tennis. Roddick might have the fastest serve, but Roger's number 1 because of his all around game. Roger doesn't need to improve anything, just keep up his well rounded skills.

The post here mention it all. He has the best all-round abilities of anyone that has ever played this game.
His serves have plenty enough pace. He doesn't need to waste energy on additional pace if he doesn't have too.... especially with how well he hits the lines. He already creates unthinkable angles from his forehand / backhand.... Much more and this will leave the competetion hopeless as it currently is. Roger is living proof the history of tennis as a finnese game. Why does he need addition body muscle? All this will do is slow him down and change his technique due to having additional muscles the brain needs to coordinate.... |

At his best, the only weakness, and only a minor one, is his second serve.

These are mostly physical gifts. Long arms, really powerful and not too tall and big.
