2 diets, which is better for endomorph to lose weight?
i am struggling with my diet, but i DO have the exercise program down PAT. Ive been running 1 mile a day, cutting out pop, doing weight training 3 times a week, etc, and of course, playing tennis 1.5-2 hours a day.
However, without diet, these efforts are really pointless. 2 good friends have helped me come up with these 2 diets for cutting. They are both pretty experienced, and post on the forums. I am an endomorph, and now weigh 180 lbs EXACTLY. Hoping to get down to the 160's ASAP(sometime in July-Oct)
Well, here are the 2 diets, please tell me which one you think is better for cutting, losing weight, and all that.
Breakfast- Oatmeal, Skim milk, 1 scoop of whey protein
Mid Morning: Met-Rx Protein Plus bar
Lunch- 1 subway sandwich with lettuce, grilled chicken, olives carrots green peppers
Pre workout- 1 banana, 1 scoop of natural peanut butter
Post workout- Protein shake and banana
Post post workout- Muscle Milk, Oats and 4 oz skim milk
Pre bed- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, Kroger Fat Free cottage cheese
2400 cals per day, approx 400 cals at each meal.
Breakfast 6:45 AM-
Quaker Quick Oats(2/3 cup) 226 calories
Egg Whites(250g) 125 calories
4 % fat cheese(37 grams) 74 calories
Cashews(25 grams) 160 calories
Optimum Nutrition Whey Protien(1.5 scoop) 180 calories
2 slices of Whole Wheat Bread, 210 calories
Skinless Chicken Breast(4 oz) 129 Calories
Large Apple(110 calories)
Optimum Nutrition Whey(1.5 scoops) 180 calories
Post Workout: Optimum Nutrition Whey(1.5 scoop) 180 calories
Bedtime: Fat Free Yogurt(180 calories),
Extra Virgin Olive Oil(1 tablespoon) 125 calories
Daily Totals of Calories:1879 Calories
please tell me which diet would be better for an Endo to lose fat, gain muscle, get skinny, etc.

Protein is over rated. Though I am find myself struggling with building muscles.
In the 20's and 30's I was blessed with muscle that was just there with no exercise. Especially the forearms. Though now in the 40s even when I do strength training, muscles never seem to like to show up or hangout for that matter!!!
70% of my meals are vegan, 20% vegetarian, and 10% have fish or chicken.
Is there something special I should be eating or doing to build muscle?

I'd substitute Bacon for the Muscle Milk.

That diet sound very unappetizing to me. I couldn't do it. I think enjoying food is more important, so I would recommend eating something you like just in smaller portions. Also, instead of a breakfast food, I recommend eating a full meal, regular meal, maybe not at 8am but 10 or 11am if you can, smaller lunch around 3pm and dinner that is very small, just as olives, red beats, salad. It helps me to eat this way and I have been eating and not gaining.

I'm happy to help answer your question. You're not alone in being "wired" to reach for meats (fat), sugar and sweets, salty things, etc. Humans are hard wired to go for these three things: sugar, fat, and salt. For more on this you can look at some of Dr. Lisle's literature on "The Pleasure Trap"
I also highly recommend the documentary "Forks Over Knives" which talks a lot about lifestyle changes. You can rent it on amazon, itunes, and netflix.
As for a lifestyle change, it is something that you make a habit, not like a diet where you change the behavior for a few days/weeks and then go back to previous eating habits, so just a short-term change. A lifestyle change is changing your behavior in for the long-run, maintaining those same habits over the course of your life.
I have good news, the human taste buds change every 14 days. I too have struggled with changing my eating habits in the past. I used to LOVE cheese and eat a lot of it every night. I started to phase it out from my daily routine, and after a few weeks, I realized, I had lost the taste for it. I not only felt better, but I still do not eat it today.
By the same way, you can train your taste buds to like foods you might not like right now. Just keep trying it a bit at a time, and your taste buds will develop a "taste" for it. This also happened to me with some foods that I didn't eat before and wanted to incorporate into my diet.
If you start by making small changes, you will end up reaping a host of benefits and you won't want to go back to the roller coaster of losing and gaining weight, reaching for bad foods and then feeling guilty, etc. You deserve a healthy you everyday!!
