PAINTJOBS, give it a rest!

I mostly browse these boards and don't post much. But these conspiracy theories about racquet paintjobs need to stop. Think about it, if you had the EXACT racquet Federer played the US Open final with, do you even remotely think you could hit the shots he does? Would you be able to go on tour by using his racquets? NO!
What difference does it make if hes is using a PS 85, 90, 95, NCode or whatever!
His racquet is a custom made stick to his specifications. I have somewhat customized my C-10 Pro Tours to my liking. I could continue to customize then until the end of time and STILL couldn't hit the ball like a tour pro!
It's not the racquets, folks, rather the player who is attached to the racquet that makes the difference.
Federer, or any other pro for that matter, could beat most of us into submission by using any 50 year old wood racquet that has a decent set of strings in it. They could let us use their "holy grail" racquet while playing against them and they would still not be challenged by at least 99% of the people who post on these boards. It used to be somewhat entertaining to read the posts about paintjobs but there have been no great revelations from this particular thread. Let's move on.

The problem isn't custom frames but when pros use a whole different frame painted to look like the newest model, which is the majority of the cases.

It's not the fact that players are using paintjobs. Most stick with what they are comfortable using and haven't changed in years. The thing that most people have issue with is when racquet companies swear up and down that the pro's use the racquets normal people buy off the shelf. Prime example - Head adamantly stating thet Kuerten and Agassi use real liquid metal racquets, when in fact they are using older/custom racquets painted to look like the liquid metal racquets. What about James Blake's 300G? Definately not the one you and I can buy.

I agree that we will not hit like a pro even if we have one of their racquets but racquet companies advertise that players use a certain frame when in reality they don't.

I totally agree that it is wrong for a manufacturer to tout a player using the latest, greatest thing since sliced bread to boost their racquet sales or try to capture market share from another company. For the most part, it doesn't (or shouldn't) make any difference to me and you what racquet our favorite pro is using. We can use the same racquet (and clothing, shoes, bags, etc) but we won't be able to play like them.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that any racquet we buy off the shelf will never be the same as the model a pro uses. By the time they customize their frame it probably bears little resemblance to an "off the shelf" frame. So, keeping that in mind, Do paint jobs REALLY matter?

the paintjob posts are fun. This IS the Pros' Racquets and Gear section in a FORUM...we are simply discussing various rackets and such.

Not a flame or anything mr tcjackson or any other poster who got tired of paintjob posts, but I agree with mistpooh that this really is PRO racquet forum so if you got tired of it there's always Rants and Raves forums and such so I really don't understand what's the purpose of your post, ( in this forum).

I figured that all those WILSON fans out there (or maybe oh... let's say...Federer fans for example) would have a kick to see these photos of the new US Open champ proudly manuvering wilson "the lightsaber" ps 85

out there in 2001.

for me,f..e its not important that i can hit with a stick from them.........for me its at the moment a little hobby to look what are they playing.......iam only interested in that ...

TC, That's awsome, small world! Tell the Perkins brothers hello from Andy and Donny Forsyth in Memphis. Whenever I come through KC Todd never wants to play. I guess he gets enough tennis from teaching lessons. However, I can always count on Todd to drink a beer or two, he'll say the same about Donny and me.
Next time I am in town I'll have to look you and Greg up for a hit.

I am not influenced in the least by what others use or like, etc.

I have a problem with the paint jobs simply because I have a problem with dishonesty. I wish more people had a problem with dishonesty.

Sometimes, ncode 90 becomes Federer fan collectiable item. They desperately want to know what exactly Roger is using. Like Football, soccer or basket ball jersey are always bought by fans. Wilson really is adept at human psychology. While I am touching ncode 90 in sport shop, my "buying emotion" is running high. That 's why I cannot become a good tennis player, as i dont have good EQ.
