I would patiently play back deep, safe shots until you get something a little shorter to work with. Then you can turn their defensive/neutralizing play into more of an attacking play, by hitting a solid approach or going for a more percentage forceful shot (not necessarily a winner, however).

When I notice an opponent is giving me something I *really* don't like, I try to make sure they aren't given the opportunity to set up and hit that shot. It means they are dictating, instead of me. It isn't easy, but you gotta change it up and take that opportunity away from them.

hey won my doubles match today as well.. maybe something with playing with a hangover... okay we didn't really win

P.S anyone coming to dupont's pride parade?? i got suckered into handing out waters and food for free.. little do they know i'm planning to eat/drink more than i hand out.. woot!!

Thanks to Nitefly, JJJosh, MrsJJJosh, Alice, Sappy, and PPL for coming out today. We were able to commandeer two courts at Howard High School once we discovered that Howard Community College seems to no longer support the sport of tennis.

The drive back totally sucked. Somebody left a perfectly good Mercedes Benz right smack dab in the middle of the American Legion bridge!

well if you'd gone to the korean restaurant with us like i'd begged you to, they would've had time to remove that worthless junker off the bridge for you. you really missed the awesome spectacle that was ppl plowing through a table's worth of korean food:

he eats with the same rabid concentration with which he plays tennis. made me and my mom reeeaaallly happy to watch him eat (cuz we're korean and it's like encoded in our dna to stuff people with bibimbop & kalbi). had sappy come, it woulda been as awe-inspiring and as fullfilling as watching a nadal-federer match. ppl, my mom wants to know when you can come over so that she can feed you. she said that she'll even buy you an exercise wheel...

Can't play back-to-back singles matches, so first one to answer gets to pick on the one-legged guy.

Played some dubs with other oldies today; some guy has a clay court in his back yard. Imagine that. Lost 6-2, 4-6, 4-6. Timing slowly coming back, as is stamina.

Knee held up okay, but achilles on that leg is sore as heck.

Any MD people ever gonna come to NOVA to play some real tennis? Not baiting you, Hollywood; I know you da man and you live beaucoup miles away now. But these other guys issue challenges and only want to play on thier home courts. Ptewie. I spit on their home courts.
