I back up what I say. I roll hard in the paint and kept a former university of washington player rebounless and she only made 1 basket. She was a good player, very solid but she was mismatched even being as tall as me she just didnt have the power or speed to be able to do anything. I would go as far to say she would beat me in a shotting contest, or probably a dribbling contest cuz I never had the best handles and couldnt dribble past anyone.

I wont be able to back up my statement of the WNBA because im not going all rene richards to do it

The wookie went down in a tough USTA battle today 4-6, 4-5 (timed out at 30-40 my serve).

Went up against a guy, good mover, 2hbh, consistent off the ground. Prone to DF's.

Freaking tired today. Got off to a slow start. Sluggish and alot of UE's. Down 0-3. Said Eff'it and started to go for my serve. Played at FRC, so the slick courts helped. Battled back to 3-3. Had a few chances to break but no deal. Got tight on my serve at 4-5 and lost that game. First set.

Second set, lost second service game ( 1-3). Broke back (2-3). Held. 3-3. He held. 3-4. Played a lights out service game that I won at love. Served well and knocked eveything off with a volley or slam (4-4) Had my chances, but couldn't break. 4-5. Times out at 30-40 (4-5) and I had just hit a nasty slice winner.

Disappointed that I didn't break more. He threw in quite a few double faults, but his serve was decent when he got it in.

Style of play felt good. Took chances to get to the net approach and knock off volleys when I could.

Right now I'm lacking that final shot. I had two great chances in break in the first set where I pulled him wide to the backhand side and had a lot of open court to hit my next shot DTL, but missed. I've got the rally top-spin shot, but I need to be able to flatten it out a bit more when I get a chance to step in and have the open court.

Fave shot of the day - dropped him short. he hits a drop shot in reply. I came in and hit a dink, half-volley lob. (que TFM laugh).

If its just wrestling and not Jui Jitsu then yes I would crush her. If she able to do submissions and stuff then she would probably win unless I she couldnt handle my distinct size advanyage. shes only 5'8: 150 so wrestling isnt fair.

I feel ya with the last shot thing. That me to sometimes it feels like I do everything I have to win the point but i miss or dont posses the final shot needed. Although if you got the TFM half volley lob you are on your way to greatness.

wookie -- ugh - tough loss. but i hope when you hit that sweet half volley lob winner that you giggled. it's not enough to just hit that shot and pump your fist. you have to giggle like a little schoolgirl to really get the full effect. bring your racquets tomorrow.

also maybe others have a different point of view but for my money - i'm not so sure you have to go for that winner when you have that open court. i mean if you have that type of game where you are working for that opening just so you can crush that winner -- then yes. but if you don't have that shot in your repertoire and can't hit it reliably 80-90% of the time . . . then you may have essentially pulled him wide to set yourself up for a LOW PERCENTAGE SHOT. figure you wanna set yourself up to hit HIGH PERCENTAGE SHOTS. with your game and strokes you may have been better served hitting a deep ball into the open court down the line (with plenty of room for error - say 5 to 10 feet inside) and come in expecting either a weak lob or a weak groundstroke for you to put away. just my 2 cents. anyone else got a different take?
