Why are you using glue AND lead tape? Are you making some sort of Frankenstein racket?

ZAp,
I was gonna meet this dude the other day to hit in harrisburg. when I went to change I forgot to bring my clothes. I went into the store and all the had was BBall shorts with no pockets. I instatly thought about you. Then I found some decent under armour stuff on sale and saved myself the embarrassment

so this is me, bailing on myself for this sunday. i'm back in manhattan this week & do not want to spend saturday cleaning, weeding, and repairing my kitchen ceiling.
thanks for getting the ball rolling for a mini-meet this weekend, x...maybe we'll have some more advance notice this time. unless the late notice was a deliberate move to be exclusive? kinda like those cooler-than-thou roving parties?

Am I late? I thought this was early. Anyone up for a Saturday morning on Reston clay? And can we play instead of just hitting? I need some match toughness. Right now, I'm a match wimp. Exclusive? Moi? Au contraire, mon cheri. I'm in total concert with Uncle Walt's multitudes: Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)

no, of course not you. sup waited until the last minute to post the location & time last weekend. i would've loved to have joined you guys in germantown.
i think i need some help balancing out my racquet now. i have 6 grams o' lead at 3 & 9 o'clock (12 grams altogether), and i flove it for groundstrokes and volleys. but i'm having difficulty slinging the racquet over my head on serves. so now i need to weight the handle, but i don't quite understand the directions. well, ok, my eyes glazed over when i got to "fishing weights." anyone? p.s. nail polish remover removes that nauseatingly tacky feeling of gorilla glue off your hands. the more you know...

@ Alice 30111,
What kind of racquet are you using? If you aren't doing any heavy customizing you may not even need something as extreme as fishing weights. Most newer racquets will have trap doors on the buttcap. With something pointy they pop right off and snap right back on. Usually there is a little space in there to stash something. You can take some lead tape and just fold it over itself to make a little square that is flat and will fit in, and then use bits of cotton balls to make sure its tight in there so there's no rattling. If you got 12grams at 3&9 you probably only need to fold up about 6 grams of lead and stick it in the buttcap to return to your previous balance

Alice! Stop! Wait!
Why in the world do you think you need more weight in this racquet??? Answer me that, first, before you start taking caps off of butts!

oh, ignore that last question. reread your post. "in the buttcap." got it. i think that my eyes glazed over at that point, too

topaz, i know that common wisdom advises against permanent alteration of a racquet for resale purposes, but i'm a lousy seller: if i don't want something, i feel terrible about selling it to someone else... and you know that white serena dress that's so horrible on me? i tried to sneak-return it back to mid west sports, along with the lacoste dress. but they sent it back to me, pointing out the fact that i'd bought it in december!

Lol, they did? Umm, that's kinda funny.
I'm still concerned with why you're trying to make an already pretty hefty racquet...even heavier. What are you trying to achieve on your strokes by adding weight?
