oh and start boarding now. i'm in my later 30's and i can't snowboard anymore. at least not on the east coast. my body can't take the punishment. my bones are a lot more brittle now. YMMV.
I like just having one thing to worry about vice a ski on each foot, that would be like having a skateboard for each foot (I used to skate up until 5 years ago).

I don't do well with cold weather though, so I'd have to get some really warm, water-proof clothing.

skiing is prob more natural for ppl that doesn't skate/surf. as for clothing, remember to layer with a decent shell on the outside. 3 layers is enough, it's the air gap that really keeps the heat trapped.

Man those boards look narrow... I don't think my feet would fit on those.

that's so funny! skiing makes sense to me because 2 feet=2 skis. which is also why i'm comfortable ice/in-line skating. but skateboarding/snowboarding/surfing makes no sense to me because you have to go foward sideways. i was playing around with my son's waverider skateboard thing last month and nearly lost my face on my driveway.

hey, i forgot to mention that the guy who cuts my hair has a client, whose son just started a business, called, Cairo-to-Go. it is, i kid you not, a hookah catering business. i got his card, because really, how could i not? but now i regret it because his business card reeks of...hookahs, and now that hookah smell is permeating my purse & even my phone. i may start answering my phone with, "hey, hookah!"

your boots ride higher than the board so it shouldn't matter unless you got something very narrow. rule of thumb is to get a board about your chin level..

I can't think of a situation where I would need a hookah brought to me.

Maybe I'll throw some kind of "Arabian Nights" themed party and then I could use the hookahs... but then my house would smell like smoke.

Hey, Sappy, when you and The Sup are cruisin' the Quarter, look up this one place on Bourbon Street. I forget the name, but it has the best-dressed performers in town - outside the club. They often sashay down Bourbon to lure in customers.

Anyways, I spent my 50th BD there, and if you see a lady named Lola, tell her Xis says hi.

Isn't that how your hand looked when you sliced the avacado and forgot to stop at the edge?

and if you gots some big azz stomps -- you can get WIDE snowboards. snowboards are measured in centimeters. i remember my boards were 158 centimeters. i'd figure you will need to find a board that's like 452 centimeters and you can lay on it or build a house on it or transport your whole family.

Why are snowboards measured in centimeters? Did they originate in Europe?

I remember this one samoan dude used to surf on this 15 foot board, we called it the "dance floor".

Sappy - I forgot to mention I watched "Let the Right One In" last night. What a f***ing weird movie. Are Swedish people permanently stuck in the 70's or something?

jrk - if you buy bindings, i would not recommend the burton cartels. their lowest setting still has a ridiculous amount of forward lean on them. by the time i finished one run, my quads were burning.

Count me out! 100%...

I went skiing one time. During that time I went down a hill 3 times 1) bunny hill 2) blue diamond something.. 3) 2 black diamond something.

Each one.. I just went down tucked in like a speed skier. Turned to stop like stopping on ice skates. After the third run, the patrol said I was easily going fast enough to kill myself. That I stopped like a pro. Then yelled at me.

Sup: Screw this sport. My behind is freezing and all I wanted to do is get to the lift faster.

I spent the next three days at the bar, near the fire, getting anyone drunk with me.
