What's even worse is if there is rain. I might as well stay home.

Oddly enough, snow isn't that bad, maybe because everyone is huddling together in their basement scared of that fluffy white stuff...

Alexandria to Arlington

Anywhere from 25 minutes to 45 minutes, leaving anywhere from 7-7:30am.

Kinda sad...as it is only about 10 or so miles (point to point).

bread, milk, toilet paper. that's what people around here say when they hear "snow". like somehow they're going to be trapped for days at a time. rain causes people to freak out around here, too.

i grew up in new york and i remember as a kid moving down here to maryland and asking my parents, "do people not know how to drive in the rain or snow?".

around here - no. no they do not.

Heh...when I hear 'snow', I start thinking...'Good, a chance to have one of the those five snow days that are built into the schedule that we don't get back at the end of the year if we don't use.'

Edited to add: Oh jeez...just got the line-up for my mixed match on Friday. I got the male partner who is a full two inches *shorter* than me! We are playing one of the teams in first place. This should be...interesting.

You bet!

Though, our county is so small that we rarely get them...not like that very *large* county to the left of us.

It is more of almost a bad union thing, though. The days and extra time are built in, but no adjustment of salary. If we don't use them, then we just worked all that extra time for FREEEEEEEE! How nice of us.

supes - you live a charmed life it seems. i have to leave the house at 5am and drive about 35 minutes into DC. better than most, worse than some. meh. i want one of those jobs where i wake up and log onto my computer in my underwear. that would be hot.

topaz - i didn't realize you were part of the Make a Wish Foundation. it's really sweet of you to help a midget realize his dreams of playing with a tall, hot schoolteacher in mixed doubles. kudos! just make sure your special friend doesn't get the wrong idea:

you must be this tall to ride the topaz.

Oh my. You may need to borrow my shredder. You'll realized why when Topaz responds. LOL. Very good one though.

Hey, think Cindy and you want to tackle the Nationals Bronze (of if Mario says it Bronce) Ball recipients? I have court time at Rock Creek park. Is that far from you?

Guys,

Keeping to the theme of food!

I constantly see long lines outside the local 5 guys burger joint. Is that place any good? I hear they sell great french fries.. and hot dogs as well.

Herndon to DC - 15-25 Min on Bus (depending on traffic on toll road), 40-60 minutes on metro (depending on breakdowns, back ups, etc.)

I usually leave the house around 8am - get in around 9am/9:30.

About two years ago I had the best commute in the world - I lived just 5 minute drive from my house ( http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=31...UTF8&z=14&om=0 )

Oh the good old days..... I sort of miss my condo in Falls Church.

5 Guys is okay. Their fries are pretty good and you can get a burger with almost any topping.

I think you have to be in the mood for 5 Guys to enjoy it. If you are craving a burger and fries, it's probably the one of the best places to go, but if you are not in the mood for downing half a gallon of oil, you'll probably hate it.

I wouldn't wait in line for more than 10 mintues for thier food though.
