Like the quality of her voice; it's different, deep and throaty. Hope she handles the spotlight better than Winehouse. Thanks for sharing.

P.S. And HB, Sup. Mea culpa for missing it.

her drugged out demeanor is somehow very sexy.. not to mention she's not bad live. SNL has some of the most unforgiving sound stage.

Need someone to teach me how to do a kick serve effectively.
Looked through at least 10 youtube vids, still no help.
I think I need to work on my timing.

The Jrk could not be taught. I partial blame myself --taking a bigger bite than I could chew.

If I can help you than great.

Miyagi voice: Daniel son, hit nail with hammer on wall you get flat serve. Hit nail on ceiling you get a kick serve.

Start with that

pls no more vids. between striking at the 6 of the ball and hitting up, my timing is fubar. I think I need a bucket of balls and someone yelling at me to get this right. I feel sorry for the next person I will play against. surely he or she will win, but it will be boring when it comes time for me to serve. "winning surely comes with sacrifices."

kinda on the court, just can't run yet. I have been able to use my legs alittle to push off during hitting. fall is here soon, I prob have another 2 months left. even though I can hit when below 55 degrees, not many ppl want to join me.

I made some curry beef brisket on the slow cooker last night. Reynold slow cooker liner saved me from 15 minutes of cleaning. I think this is the best thing invented since the stick blender.

Maybe Im not the authority on kick serves, but I used to have a pretty good one. lack of practice has made it barely above average.

Ive had acouple poeple ask to me teach them. Its almost always been the same. Show them how I grip it, where to toss it. They hit a few decent. Tell them they have to really attack the ball to get the spin/kick. They hit a few more, get frusttrated. i tell them to hit like 1000 serves a week fro two months then they should be pretty confident. They dont.

I had a guy show me the grip and stuff when I was like 19. Never practiced it until I was like 26. But I remember starting off I would frame alot of balls and they would rocket almost stright up in the air. The pro at the center said I was getting close just maybe the toss had to more in the court and not striaght behind me. I eventually figured it out.

I have been told to learn to play Twister first before attempting the kick serve. I guess it has something to do with turning into a human pretzel.

I think one of out TW MAcer's. Either PP or the flat hitting guy whose name I cant remeber said the following about TFM (may god rest his soul) kicker.

"It looks like he is in the Matrix ducking a samurai sword"

so i got my butt kicked this weekend...badly...in 8.5 men's combo, lost to a solid pair (really strong 4.5 on the other side of the court...and couldn't get into any kind of groove...0 and 2...

then in 9.5 men's combo, ran into my first 5.5 on the other side of the court...this sums up the day...i hit my hardest serve i can possibly hit down the T...he causally hits a winner, past my partner, up the line, for a winner...lost, 1 and 1...my partner was only a 4.5 and a total nutcase...threw his racquet about 20 times...one time it landed on the court next to us -- going threw the net between the courts somehow...

u don't need a kicker. I heard that u put craters in the serve box with ur flat serves.

I passed by Edgewood, a couple of weekends ago. was going to Philly for a concert. was trying to find the R & R tex-mex restaurant. ended up detouring passing thru Aberdeen after getting 7-11 gas there. It felt like I was the only asian in the town.

CB, do you have a the standard top-spin serve down?

I'd work on the top spin serve first to get the basics down, then you can add in kicker easy.
