Most people sAy the initial install can take as longas six hours. Verizon runs the signal high to the house so they have to install attenuators so the signal is not too high. They have to run a good bit of cable as well. Once installed most people are happy with the product once they adjust to the new channels and all. Internet will probably be faster compared to comcast, especially on the uploads. In PA though Verizon did not have many techs fro trouble calls, so wait time could be long and they didnt work weekends or extended hours.

Had another USTA match yesterday. Basically i just over powered the guy in the 1st set 6-1. then in the 2nd I was crusing along at 2-0 and then I got hit by a mack truck. my legs just quit on me all of a sudden and the guy was framing shot hitting short balls that i couldnt do nothingwith when I got there. I We basically broke each others serve to rest of the way. and i dropped the 2nd set tiebreak 7-5. so the 10 point tie break followed. he served double fault and then I blasted two serves he couldnt return. I crusied in the tie break and was up 9-3. he double faulted and I claimed yet another victory.
JJJosh destroyed his guy 1 and 1. and the team lost at dubs in a 3rd set tie break. but we out first match 4-1. I have never lost it that before. usually when I fatigue its a gradual process, but this time it was like a light switch went off and my legs were dead.

tfm - what don't you like about the SpinFire that you do like about Big Banger? and is it BB ALU, Rough or Flouron?
I ask because I've tried SpinFire and wasn't thrilled w/ it either, but was wondering how BB compares. Also, I string many friend's rackets w/ a SpinFire/Synthetic mix and they all love it. Eh...to each his own...

mclovin -- the spinfire were full jobs. both strung at 52 pounds. Sup strung em both up. played with one racquet for about an hour and a half. in that span it plays really nice. nice crisp feel. a bit more spin that the pro hurricane tour i've been hitting with. thought i had something good for awhile.
but then the wheels fell off. the tension must've dropped to the point that i would randomly hit balls into the bottom of the net or into the fence. zero control. completely dead. unplayable. and the other spinfire strung racquet i played with a few days later. it already dead. without even playing one stroke the strings were already dead. maybe i should've had it strung up tighter to compensate for the initial tension loss. but again - they were useless strings. i've played with wooden racquets with 20 year old strings on them that had more life. your results may vary. the big banger original rough is what i'm playing with currently. again strung at 52 pounds. yes it's not the best for holding tension but even after losing some tension -- it still plays quite nicely. absolutely great spin. nice dead feel - which i like. not so great is the harshness to the wrist and elbow. ouch. really feeling it today after hitting for 2 hours the other day. much harsher than the spinfire. much harsher than pro hurricane tour. no more poly for me after this. |

That's pretty funny. Especially since that is exactly how I like my strings.
A couple suggestions: 1 - Have you tried a poly/gut combo? 2 - Have you ever tried a thin gauge kevlar or kevlar blend / gut combo? I use the latter in my setup (19g mains from this http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/desc...MA-TNTF19.html with 17g gut) and it plays great. The best part about it is it breaks just before it goes dead. I used to put in a few string-a-lings, but that made it last past its usefulness. No arm problems (I string at 56 & 60). Nice spin & pop, but with that 'dead' feeling. If we ever get out & hit, you can hit w/ my sticks for a bit & see what you think. My rackets are a bit stiffer than yours, but you could still get a good idea of how it plays.

TWMACers!
Introducing the official TWMAC "hooky" day. hook·y1 –noun unjustifiable absence from school, work, etc. (usually used in the phrase play hooky): On the first warm spring day the boys played hooky to go fishing. Begin your cough the morning before, work on the "tummy" ache face you used to give your mother to get out of school, or if you are like the rest of us... just wake up in time to make the meet. When: Wed 5/28 Where: 12-2pm Nottoway Park Who: Anyone who can play hooky, take time off work..etc. Lunch:Not sure where.. so suggestions welcome. Thanks Sup

Haha... nice story. Does this mean you are giving Lauriol Plaza your infamous "zero" rating as well? |

TFM- Remember to write down which racquet you liked the most. They are so close together, except 2. Just keep track. As for your string selection. Lux is awesome, but if your arm hurts, I would go with a stiff multi that reacts to the spin you muster. Have you tried the racquet with Maxim Touch yet? Thats a 16g. The 17g is soooo much more lively. Like night and day. Both are great strings. Sappy- you showing up at Nottoway? P.S. Shoulder is 80% and I have a tournament this weekend in MD. Draw seems a little better, but still need to TWMAC "represent".

oh man! i've never heard of lauriol plaza but apparantly it's the best mexican food in washington dc.
i wanna go. let's do lunch there today sapient. i betcha they'll give us the good seats. i don't have sh*t on my face today either. there's a standup comic who does a funny bit on mexican food. jim gaffigan. funny guy: I used to be a waiter at a mexican restaurant in Indiana, and that's where you go for Mexican. As a waiter there was a way you had to deal with customers stupid questions like "what is nachos?" "nachos? its tortilla with meat, cheese, and vegetables." "then what is a burrito?" "tortilla with meat, cheese, and vegetables." "then what is-" "LOOK ITS ALL THE SAME, just say a spanish word and Ill bring you something" |

You can give me your racquets today, but when do you want to get back on the court? I have a couple sets left of Babolat VS touch. You said you wanted natural gut. Looks like a couple peeps are coming to hooky day. Apparently they want to be kept on the low low,... what are you afraid the boss will find out?

Food is geniune, beer is cold.. and they treat you asians with respect... just expect to clean the dishes you ate off of when you leave. Better than eating outside in the alley.

well i hope you slackers enjoy your hooky day. i would love to get out there and show you all some magical tennis. i guess you will have to be dazzled at our next offical TW MAC meet. with my newly matched sticks and string i feel younger and more vibrant.
had a change of pace last night. we had pot roast with potatoes and carrots and onions and homemade gravy. pretty awesome but at some point i thought, "hmm this probably doesn't happen very often where you get 6 koreans sitting down eating pot roast". "what is this metal thingy with spikes sticking out"? "it's called a fork". ![]() |

I'd have loved to join in the official hooky day, but I'm still on IR. I have my doctor appt. tomorrow in the AM. If he gives me the thumbs up, I've got 2 weeks to get back into shape for a local club tournament, so I'll be looking to get some afternoon hits in.

I have the internet and phone. They don't have TV in my area yet. Install took about 2 hours at my place - they needed to install a modem outside to go from fiber to your standard ethernet cable. My house is new and was already wired so they didn't really have to run much cable around the house, he just had to pull the cable from behind the wall socket and put a new face plate on with an ethernet connection. The did have install a battery back-up for the phones, since FIOS does not supply power to the phones during a black-out. Phones are good. And the internet is plenty fast.
