hey guys, i am now in 16 zats, i am aging up next month but i want to get an early start because the next champs is in corpus and i dont want to go all that way. Plus i have a concert that weekend soo... I will get an early start on 16 zats. Hey MHS, is it a big upgrade from 14 champs? Are they much better? I think the next tournament i play in will be in college station/ bryan.

I only played one tourny in 14 champs and it wasn't a major zone so I can't really tell, and I haven't played any 16 major zones yet. I've played one 14 unsanctioned champ and 1 16 unsanctioned champ and I'd say the 16's is a higher level. More power, control, and variety. I don't know for sure though because I haven't played in a major zone. Sorry I couldn't help much.

it depends on how well you did in champs. since you didn't have enough points to age up into champs you'll probably struggle for a little bit.

If you won a 14 zat and played champ level for a while it probably won't take you long to make it back up. I won my 5th 16 zat. It might take you a while to get back into the groove of playing the pusher types of players that are common in zats.

I actually don't play much USTA in the texas section considering my USTA membership and ranking is in the Southern section (#141 g18s):Arkansas district (#4 g18s), but I do live in Texas and keep up with the Texas USTA since I play high school tennis in Texas. I usually try to play a couple of open tournaments in Texas to get some good match play experiance in.

Is anyone on here from east texas?

tenniskids--i went to a&m tennis camp session 4 too...what group were you in? i was in the grey group..

I was in the white group, but I should have been in gray. At the time I signed up for the camp I was on JV, so they started me out in maroon. And I didnt have enough time to move up fast enough. But my friend was in gray. Robert Stevens? do you know him?

the name rings a bell i just can't put a face with it.

yeah every year i start out way undergrouped because i don't have a Texas section ranking and so they just assume I'm not a tournament player and put me in a non-tournament-player group. I had to work my way up from white this year too...and was still on the lower side of the grey group although I went undefeated all week.

where are you from?

and does everyone on here play high school tennis?? if so where at? and how far have you gotten out of district?

This past year was my first time to win regionals and go to state in singles. I had the stomach virus at state and lost first round 7-5 7-6 :/ so I'm definately ready to go back next year and get past the quarters.
