Of course Federer can win Hamburg but only if Nadal, Canas, Volandri and Djokovic don't meet him at any point.

You can say that I am wrong and that Federer will win it or you can say that I have a good point
Really we are just expressing our opinions here and disagreeing is healthy and normal and debating in a good manner is one of the best things to do on a forum like this. P.S: I think Federer will lose early in Hamburg because the surface there is very very slow and that is not in Roger's favor. |

Well, almost any player in the Top100 can beat Fed if he plays the way he played against Volandri. It didn't have much to do with the opponent that Roger lost.

nah, i watched federer-volandri match last night on my tape.
i realized volandri earned it at least partially. he won backhand to backhand rally and stretch fed on his forehand side causing fed commit errors... |

To some extent, this is true. However, if Federer plays better, then he'd win against these other guys easily, and as soon as he started firing winners and being Fed, they would likely realize: "I can't beat this guy", and fold up like they normally do. Volandri, though, now has a victory over Federer, which could give him some level of confidence; perhaps enough to play within himself and not be intimidated, which could be enough to raise his chance of winning. Confidence goes a long way in tennis.

I also agree that Volandri earned it, but not partially; I feel that he earned it entirely. Even if Federer isn't playing well, he's still Federer, and you play him with the knowledge that he can completely take over the match at any time. Volandri earned his win totally in my book, but then, I'd say that about pretty much any pro beating any other pro.
