i just looked and saw only mexico as well. when i was playing a few years ago there where tournies all over central america. id still go to mexico over playing in the US. US draws are some of the hardest out there. even in qualies you get solid college players.

Kaptain Karl,
Do you really get pay if you play a 5.0/Open tournament? I though if you play 4.5 or 5.0 you just get a medal or something like that. Thank you

The central america events are earlier in the year (Jan/Feb). Not sure why they arent coming up on ITF.

I totally agree. Mexico can be especially good for the players with good serves due to the altitude at some of the events. The people like the tennis too so you can get treated really well, just have to be really careful with what you eat. Canada is easier also. US is tough because not only do you get the solid college players who are match tough but also the up and coming academy kids. Some of the WCs in the US though have me shaking my head in disbelief. Not sure what they are thinking. Europe is really tough as well. Australia and New Zealand can be easier in the earlier rounds.

without looking at the Mexico map, is it safe to assume that the area where the tourneys are held safe for players? drug testing at that level? asking cause what if your food/drink gets spiked?

Many of the tournaments are in resort areas and country clubs. The food/drink issue is more the usual stuff that happens to anyone who drinks the water in a new place. I dont know about drink spiking but that usually happens in clubs for robbery purposes and the rich looking corporate guys are usually the victims of those types of crimes. Dont know if that happens much in Mexico? I would be careful anywhere of that though. They say that is going on in clubs in some parts of Toyko at the moment. I have not heard of spiking anyones drink with a banned substance or something if that is what you are asking. I did hear a story about a couple of Dutch players who were shot at while eating at a restaurant in Mexico. They werent targeted, just wrong place at wrong time. They werent hit or anything. The US is fairly dangerous if you're not from here.

canada isnt that easy. college players will make the trip. a few guys i knew would make trips to places like indonesia and other small asian countries. there draws are a joke. very easy way to pick up points. or go to african countries another easier way to get points. if your willing to take some risks with were you travel there are easier draws but there in riskier countries.

Draw wasnt posted on ITF site yet so here it is from the ATP site:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/tennis/e...009/229/qs.pdf

Hoping to play better tommorow, hitting outside seems to be very different and tricky with wind

nice 6-1,6-2 win Tony!

I noticed another player in this draw (Gary Sacks).
He used to play for USC trojans and has a matchplay clip on Vimeo ( http://vimeo.com/788300 ). Forward to 1:05.
