Who can help with info on where to play on red clay in the US?
Is the Westside Club in Houston available to visitors/non-members? Only other place I know of is a fancy resort in New Hampshire, played on a red clay court there one time as a kid. If not the US, how about easily accesible places in Mexico? Anything? Thanks, John K |

We have outdoor red clay courts in of all places Albany NY. It's located in public park but you need to be a member or pay a guest fee. I've also played on red clay under a bubble at a club in Mamaroneck, NY.

I think there are several places with red clay. I don't think you'll need to go to Mexico just yet... There are some public red clay courts in New York City and several private red clay places that will charge you plenty to play on them, among other places.

No red clay in Colorado, only some private green. At high altitude the ball flies faster, so you would think that there would be more clay courts to slow the game here down???

Westside has had both for a long time. From what I understand (I used to be a member and live near there in Houston) Westside is changing to a fitness club. I think they are only going to keep one red clay court if any, but they don't keep their clay courts up as it is, so I wouldn't expect high quality. I don't think they are open to visitors.

In New York City at Riverside Park at West 96th street is 10 Red Clay courts. It is $7.00 per person if you don't have a seasonal pass. Here is the website: http://www.rcta.info

The red clay at Westside last time I was there was poorly maintained. The green clay was kept up. There are spots on the red clay that were really dry and some that were really wet. It wasn't even so it felt dangerous drying to slide and all of a sudden hitting a spot and your foot would dig in. It was fun though. Dirty as heck.

Sorry to sort-of hijack this thread, but does anyone know of any red clay courts in or around Monmouth county, central NJ, Baltimore, MD, and the northeastern part of Virginia?
Better yet, anybody know of any grass courts in those areas? Last edited by Pr0DiGy : 03-26-2007 at 11:25 AM. Reason: left out some words |

Actually, there are some new red clay courts in Colorado, in the Denver area. They are American Red Clay (a mixture of brick dust and stone). FYI ...
