Default Fractured Hand!

Anyone ever fracture their hand playing? I experienced pain in my hand during a tournament a little over a year ago and after months of it not healing, I had an MRI done with a 'hand specialist'. He says I have a fractured Hammit bone which is near the bottom of the palm. I have had 2 cortizone shots near the bone as he recommended and it has reached the point where I can't hit anymore. I continued to play sparingly as the pain would allow, in between applying ice and heat. My doctor says the next step is to cut into my hand and file down this small bone to eliminate the fractured section. He claims he has performed this procedure on one professional tennis player and that he has seen this type of fracture in 2 other tennis player's.
Just curious if anyone has fractured this same bone.

Ouch! What racket/strings/tension were you using when this injury originally happened?

I forgot to mention what may have contributed to the fracture. I was using the Wilson Hyper Pro Staff 6.1 95, which I thought was my 'Holy Grail', strung with Wilson Hammertec 18g at 70lbs. The fracture may be attributed to the combination of the three.
