I agree. A moderm POG in a 100" 16x19...Pardon my exuberance but, Hell F-----g lo???.... Why can't those Prince guys figure it out... Guess they're just too busy jacking with that lifeless ported crap that sells like hotcakes...

Count me in. Started playing tennis in 1979 with Prince Classic, later upgraded to the Pro, then the Woodie and Comp. After a 15 year tennis hiatus (aka kids) started playing again in 2006 in search of the perfect racquet. The contemporary search yielded a stiff, arm punishing, touchless bevy of racquets. Finally I ordered a Prince POG 107 and I am at home again. The spin is back, the control is back and the touch is back. Prince got it right the first time, it is a shame consumer purchasing habits demand unnecessary innovation.

i'll join! i am the proud owner of a POG Tour OS that was given to me, and the very sad former owner of a POG Straight Shaft Mid that was stolen. Haven't been able to pick up another. Tour versions aplenty, but no Straight Shafts. Also have a POG LB, cut down to 27".

Add me to the list, as I am a new, very enthusiastic convert to a POG OS.
I had been using a Diablo mid for the past three years w/ a syn gut/kevlar set up. It was an excellent frame and I will always have fond memories because it's what I used to get back into the game after 3 years away. But, against better opposition, I had problems getting enough power and depth (I'm primarily a baseliner). It just felt cumbersome. I wanted the racquet to do just a tad more. I tried lighter racquets that I could whip faster - hated it, I'm too used to a weighty frame. I tried looser, softer strings on my Diablo. Didn't like it. My Diablo was always pairied with a "boardy" string set up and anything else I just didn't like. I had bought a POG OS about a year ago, but never really used it. Two weeks ago when I was frustrated with my Diablo, I took out the POG and did some serious hitting. Really fantastic. Have to do a little bit less work to get massive spin and power. Still have the weight to block back pace. Spin serves are unbelieveable. And I actually like it better at net than the Diablo, even though the Diablo is more head light and has a denser string pattern. I'm blown away that the solution to my dilemma was to go OS. Really enjoying the POG OS. Just ordered another one. I really like the current Tour version which is 5 pts headlight, which is great for my game. But, I never used the 4-stripe version or any other version for that matter, so I have no point of comparison. Last edited by bluetrain4 : 03-16-2008 at 09:22 PM. |

I've got POG mids that I've been playing with for the last year but I can't really take the super open string pattern and have switched to the Microgel Prestige line. Alas, the POGs are for sale.

well, the POG OS is heavier than my cut down POG LB, so it is quite a bit more stable. one thing that i've never liked about the LB is how flexible it is. i generally hate polys. feel like they're too stiff. i actually went to a poly in the LB to try and firm up the stringbed. maybe i just chose the wrong poly because it didn't do the trick. being lighter, though, it's much more maneuverable (sp?) than the OS, thus making 1HBH and serves easier with the OS. the headsize doesn't really seem that mch smaller than the OS. one thing i dislike about both is how round the head is. makes it feel bigger than it is. i think prince's headsizes seem bigger than they state. for instance, the o3 hybrid tour seems a fair bit bigger than 95, and the 100's seem bigger than other companies' 100's. overall, i like the feeling of the POG OS more than the LB. what i would really like is a true 95" POG MP that feels like the mid. i think that all sizes of the POG feel different from one another. one thing for all of them, though...they're all spin machines.

I have a Prince Precision Graphite 700 PL. I bought this racquet in 95'. I've looked all over the internet trying to find some info on this racquet with no luck. It's an OS with 107" face. Anyone know the specs on this racquet?
Thanks, E. |

Just got back into the game about a year ago after a 15 year layoff. I am really getting into a groove now with my POG OS. There is no other racquet I can keep a low slice like I can with this. Unfortunately, I only have one 4 stripe, so I will stock up on Tour versions.

Count me in. On the shelf are 3 POG longbody’s and my one remaining Prince Magnesium 90 extended to 28” which I used about 20 years ago. In my bag and my current playing racquets are 3 Chang Titanium OS strung with Prince Topspin with Duraflex mains and Forten Sweet 16 crosses.
I really gave the POG LB’s a good try. Had to add lots of lead to get them working well, but the Chang TI’s also with some lead produce better results for every shot except the serve. The Chang TI’s have something called a sweet spot suspension system which appears to be a mini version of “O” ports. The sweet spot suspension system really is an improvement over conventional grommets. Now if prince will produce another 28” player’s frame with their new technology I would definitely give that a hit. |

I am a die hard Straight Shaft POG OS player - bought a couple of Tour versions brand new and ended up selling them - just don't like the way those new ones feel.

I'm thinking about picking up a Prince Graphite Series 90 1987 4 stripe. Is this considered a POG? Thanks in advance.

Question: Is the bridge in different position for different version of POG? I have a 4 stripes and an old one stripe with individual grommet(??) and the bridge in the one stripe is lower about 3/4 inch compare to the 4 stripes.
Anyone? |

The old one stripe had a different mold more like a teardrop while the 4 stripe was rounder. Probably why the stabilizing bar location is not identical to the other.

And I have a one stripe series 110 (1984). But then I've also got this weird one stripe that's got what seems to be around a 100" head that definitely has an odd, teardrop-ish shape. No markings save for a sticker that says 1987 and string at 72 - 80 lbs. I bought it off the bay and didn't bother restringing it b/c it seems like a fake, or that it's a warped series 110 or something. Really strange head, the bottom of which starts noticeably lower (closer to the grip) than the 90s, and the stabilizing bar is lower, as well. The single stripe paint job is also a little wobbly ... maybe somebody had a few beers at the ol' Prince factory ... Sound like the same one you're talking about? |

Oh, and the POG is my fave stick I've ever tried.
I grew up with a Pro Kennex Silver Ace that I used through hs and college. Didn't play so much for several years after school. Got back into it using a hand me down Prince 720 Longbody, and bought a used POG 110 since I'd always wanted one as a kid. That quickly led to a bunch of demo tests and picking up a POG 90. I do wish they made a 100", as the 110 is too big for me but I could use a little extra room on my 2h backhand (definitely my weaker side). I tried an NXG 100" and just didn't like it that much. Thinking of trying the POG longbody. Or I could just get better But the POG just feels so good. Probably encourages me to overhit for the lines too much, but when I'm hitting well it's like a laser. And overhitting ain't the racquet's fault ... |

I don't really have anything original to add in the form of praise for how the POG plays, but out of curiosity can anyone name a frame that's easier to string? I've yet to encounter it.
