Default A gag order should be in place!!!

I hate Sharapova!! Her shrieking has goned over the top.It gets louder with every point and its distracting in my mind to the other players. Not even Seles was louder then this ridiculous crap!!!!The WTA needs to shut her up!

Well getting hit by a bus would turn things down a few decibels. Nah, I would rather she just go up against Serena again and get her *** handed to her like at the aus. That was the tennis equivalent of getting hit by a bus.

I remeber reading some where that her shrieking (or grunting whatever you call it) was equal to a small airplane landing nearby. You know when you have a player who is like landing an airplane on every shot you need to shut her up!

I will gladly take this alternative.

There's such a difference between Sharapova and Serena's yelling and those of Safarova and Dementieva's grunts, that I can't believe the tour doesn't do something about it. It is getting to the point I won't watch Maria's or Serena's matches because it's just too absurd. And isn't that the big thing, the viewership?

Do something, WTA.

I read that as well - I have a fair amount of tolerance, but have to agree with you guys on this one - it is extreme to the point of discomfort.

Here's a solution for everyone who gets so friggin bothered by it:

Don't watch her matches. put the TV on mute, you do something about it other than *****ing about it online. It really doesn't bother me. No one's grunting bothers me. Look at Rafa, and Serena has gotten really bad lately, but the Seles grunt did really use to be annoying...

Who are you to say what I can, and cannot complain about? Personally, I find everything about her annoying as hell, and I shall continue to complain, as is my right.

I enjoyed the match Schnyder vs. Sharapova, and though Patty had it on her racket, she let it go. I admired Sharapova's fighting spirit, but her shrieking, getting louder and louder, positively deafening on major points where Patty would have won or broken was totally distracting and unnecessary.

It's an old and oft talked topic, but I have absolutely been put off by the volume these players are allowed to emit. Sure there's grunting that goes on, louder breathing as the ball is struck, but the shrieking needs to be stopped. Yes, they are concentrating and deep into the match, but I really think measures need to be taken to curb this.

No problem during matches when a player may occasionally (operative word) call out/shriek at a mistake or high point, but virtually every single stroke of the ball. Totally unnecessary, distracting and just downright ugly.

Keep a careful eye on Sharapova's grunting. I have seen an observation that it has nothing to do with the ball contacting the racquet. If this is true, it is a form of cheating, pure and simple. (I can't comment on it because I so rarely watch her matches).

I think I know what you mean, doesn't it seem like it happens a bit after contact?

Good Suggestion...

"Shout as hell"pova's actions in Today's match are terrible. Such a unsportive person.

ill take the loud noises of grunters anytime than the robotic silence of other players that would put the entire tennis community to sleep.
