Default You know those matches where you...

Feel like you aren't achieving anything?

Today I was playing comp, I feel like the court is half the usual size, the guy is pressuring me every point, but suddenly I win the first 7-6. Not sure how, it just happened. I felt like I was losing about 80% of the points due to stupid strategy.

Don't you hate it? I lost 6-4 6-0 the next 2 btw..

Hey - at least you had one! Normally my weirdest and most disappointing matches go in a blur of not thinking, and that really irks me on the drive home, when there's no hitting and unlimited time for thinking :/

I was 6-3 up first then lost 1 and 3 in last 2. First one i was a bit apathetic. I was doing everything wrong. Got broken for 2 of the 3 games he won. Couldnt hit a backhand, top or slice and my forehand was nothing special. I felt like crap, and he just played the same way the whole way through.

I just felt like i didnt wanna be there, wasnt having fun or enjoying it. And in the end i was thinking this is bs. What is the point. My guy was a utter slapper on the forehand and slice hack on the backhand. And i just got bored. He never did anything rally worthy. Id rather go up and hit with my dad a 2.5 who id atleast enjoy playing round with.

It didnt help it took us and hour and half to get there. :P

Erm all i can say is concentrate on your match. Believe you are achieving something and if you are not then it should be an easy game.
Maybe because you believed you were losing (even though you won) your brain adapted to a negative style and then lost focus.

JC out.

i think the worst matches are the ones when you win, but it isnt even fun.
like your opponent is so bad that you can easily hit a winner off the return. its fun for like five minutes and then it just gets old.

I also hate it when you win but play very poorly.

Yes, the other day, it was 104 degrees in the shade (what shade), the center strap broke loose and the net was 2 inches high, everything glared with sunlight, my doubles partner was grouchy. Nothing was fun. I could have been home fixing the bathroom sink and enjoying it more.

Well, that's the way it is, sometimes. They say, what doesn't kill you, makes you tired (or stronger, I forget which).

Good luck,

B

wow i feel your pain.

played in a high school tournament this year and had to play at a park. the surface was some composit material (also used for a basketball court) and there were no net straps. not even holes for a net strap to lock into. they just had the net a whole 3.5 feet all the way across! it was horrible!

I feel your pain, a few weeks ago I was Puerto Rico. Scheduled a match, which was cool but in my infinite wisdom we started about 2pm, since my wife was out shopping. It was "only" maybe 95, but on the court it must have been 110 and it was 99.9999999% humidity. I knew I was in trouble when I realized My shirt was soaked through from my walk from my room.

Anyway we played half a set and ended up going to the pool and drinking coquitos and pina coladas until the wives called us to go to dinner

J to tha C,

Here in Fresno, CA. we had several hot days in a row after a fairly cool period. And August is usually the really hot month.

I think richw76 has the right idea (above).
