Default Tape at the top of an overgrip?

So, I unwrapped and rewrapped a leather grip tonight on a used racket I got to rid the pallet of some modification lead. The black tape that holds the leather grip up has lost it's ability to hold for the most part. What kind of tape is best to use at the top of the grip? I've been wondering this as once in a while through play I'll work the "wilson" tape that comes with the pro overgrip off at the very end, which annoys me, but you only get one tape per grip, so I can't just pop on another.

just use some Scotch tape to seal it. Or any other high-quality adhesive tapes. Those transparent tapes sold as stationary for school kids won't be good enough. Scotch is good.

No big deal.

you have hockey tape or duck tape?
those things bite onto the racket like there's no tomorrow.

If you dont like the rough surface, then put another layer of scotch on top of the duck tape.

What about the black tape you see on stock grips sometimes. Is this basically electrical tape? I'd like it to look semi clean.

haha. quack...quack. j/k Anyways, just for reference people, it's duct tape, but back to the question...

Finishing tape would work best. I'll see if I can find you a link once TW comes back up.

Many people just use electrical tape. I'd find you a link to the real stuff, but TW is still down.

Here we go: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/sear...finishing+tape

If you want it to look like the factory finishing tape (slick and plasticy, for lack of a better word) choose the vinyl one.

Finishing tape is quite similar to electrical tape (in fact, tourna grip comes with red electrical tape), so you may as well use that if you've got it lying around.

I noticed that...didn't think about it at the time, but it was electrical tape...good catch.

I looked on Unique's site, and it says that the tape is 66 ft. long. It says two reels per pack, but I'm not sure if TW gives one or two rolls. So either 66 or 132 ft. I've never bought it before, but it seems like it would last for quite along time, being as you're using easily less than 6 in. each time. Good luck.

Here's Unique's accessory page if you want to look at it for yourself.

i use electrical tape when needed, and i think it looks better than duct tape or scotch tape.

i agree. Tourna's tapes are the best. very adhesive and don't come off at all.

I have medical tape in my bag. I sometimes use it to supplement the tape that comes with the overgrip.

Thanks,
eagle

I usually don't use any tape. The rubber thingy covers the top of the overgrip and hides the tape anyway.
