Anyone have a recommendation for stringing a Head PT 280? For those of you who use this racquet, what is your current set up? I currently have mine weighted at 12.5 oz. and use Head Fibergel Power 16. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I had mine at 44 pounds with Leoina 66 or 77.
I liked this racquet best at low tension. |

I have mine at 55/53 or 54 lbs with bow brand gut 17g in the mains and alpha gut 2000 17g in the crosses. I put lm prestige CAP grommets in, so it's ~350g or 12.3 oz now.

Thank you for the suggestions. I may try gut, but season does not start till next year and I probably won't order anything after I settle on this one order. I want to try a Bow gut hybrid, but am not sure whether is good to store the gut at home for half a year. I don't play often now due to be inundated by school work. Fibergel Power seems to be pretty good, so how would sticking with that be? In addition, I have Prince Syn. Gut 16 Dura. in my other PT 280, and that feels too stiff. What would you recommend then for something softer than Duraflex. I've tried 17 Dura. and Original Syn by Prince, but I don't seem to like them. For the Fibergel, I think that tension has gone down a lot since the strings are moving quite a bit. Also, if it's any worth, my PT's are now about 13 oz. So any more recommendations would be greatly appreicated.
Oh, I'll just describe my playing style just incase that might help influence a string choice. I am left handed. Semi-western quite heavy topspin forehand. Two-handed, relative flat backhand. Slice and topspin serve mostly. Comes to net as much as possible unless opponent has really good returns. So based on this, what would you recommend. Oh one last thing, if I added cap grommets, would that make too heavy? Once again, thanks for any help given. |

Your game sounds a lot like mine, including being lefty, although I'm older -- The Bow gut is a very good idea (maybe 16L or 17), and it will last for some time while you aren't playing. Synthetic strings won't hold tension as long, but consider LaserFibre Supreme or XRC Phenom, Dunlop Max Comfort, Prince Sweet Perfection, Alpha 2000, Gosen OG Sheep Super Micro, Gamma Live Wire. Of these, the LaerFibre will hold tension the best. I heven't tried it yet, but the Tecnifibre X-One Bi-Phase has been getting lots of favorable comments |

Thank you bcaz for the variety of strings. However, the majority of those seem to be above the 10 dollar range. I don't mind paying over 10 for the gut hybrids, but is it worth over 10 dollars to get a multi when I can just add a couple dollars more for a gut hybrid?

Oh, one thing I forgot to ask, would it be ill advised to string a polyester string into the PT 280. I was thinking of using Ashaway Monogut 17 probably at mid 40s to high 40s. If that's bad, I might try the G-Starr Cyberfibre string since it's so cheap. How to these two options sound?
