So, for the past 6 months, i have been playing with my n6.1 95 with pro hurricane tour 16, strung at 56. I break this string on average in about 1.5 months. However, I am going back to PSGD 17, to see what it feels like compared to the hurricane. How long do you think it'll take me to break the strings?

Wow! I played with the Pro Hurricane Tour once and i just couldn't break it! I played with it for like 3 months but the strings lost tension and i cut it out but that thing is unbreakable.
If you break a string like that in 1.5 months, you're gonna be breaking the PSGD every other day.

Not sure about the tour, but I couldn't break the normal Hurricane. Had to cut it out when it was way beyond dead and I figured it was a shame for my racquet that my old Dunlop had more pop..

well, i hit with very heavy topspin, so I can usually break it in more or less 2 months, but it's getting expensive to pay for it, so I want to go back to just synthetic gut. The problem is that I don't want to pay about $15 for the stringjob, and then break it the next day.

Durability isn't the problem with Pro Hurricane Tour... the tension control is the problem. PHT is really crap at holding tensions... after the first set they will begin to loosen up a lot.

The N6.1 is a string eater and my son (17) will break poly in about 2.5 hours-PSGD in about an hour. If a poly lasts you 1.5 months, assuming you play reguarly, I would use the PSGD. You're obviously not hitting heavy shots and playing against high caliber opponents-really the only reason for using poly (IMO). |
