I think he's going to have a good shot at one but he's going to have to start pushing the best in the world, like Djokovic has, (which he is capable of).

I think if he gets himself back to proper form, he could do. I don't think it would be for a while, though - maybe a couple of years?

Having not really closely followed Andy's achievements...what is the highest stage to which he has advanced in any of the four major tournaments? I presume he hasn't got past the fourth round?

He might. Just depends on if he can stay healthy and if he stops acting like a mentalcase when he is down in a match. I don't think he will do that though.

You hit the nail on the head as his talent is there, but his mental game is suspect. Gilbert will help him to construct points better as opposed to his old ways which left a lot to be desired, but it will be harder to rewire his attitude.

Somthing tells me inside that Murray is gonna win a few GS's. Just give him alittle more time.

At this point in time, it doesn't look very promising for the young Scot.

I'll have to go and ask his mum what she thinks, she was coaching on another court when I was playing earlier today.
I think he has something different to everyone else, just watching him the way he comes up with the ordinary shots like everyone else but then comes up with the most extra-ordinary shots aswell, I dont mean like supernatural like Federer, he just uses clever shots that can sometime make the opponent look a bit silly. |

He's got many years ahead of him. I think he might do a Henman and have a few close semifinals, or like Rusedski, pull out one slam final at his peak. The touble is, guys like Djokovic (born in the same month) and Nadal (less than a year older) are sooooo much better. I can imagine that there will be a couple more young guns that will move in and overtake him soon too.

what a load of clowns..i remember murray at 20 i thought wow he CAN win majors in the future he was still having stamina problems back then..zero power over a sustained period..
this thread was after murray hurt his wrist in hamburg on his 20th burfdayy i think ,and missed french open and wimbledon just when he had broken into worlds top 10.. when murray reached the 2008 us open final age 21yrs i thought he would win more majors by now than the one he has won, so if i was posting here in 2007 id have said murray would have 3 or 4 majors by now so i wouldve been wrong too also, work on core strength and mental approach (both a bit obvious)..didnt think it would take him so long to conquer his mental demons..i thought he had cracked it by 2009, he was winning masters and embedded in the top 10.. he shouldve kicked on mentally despite losing a close 2009 wimby sf to an amazing level roddick, who pushed federer all the way in the final.. but he didnt..until lendl got inside murrays head and helped sort stuff out. I'm not in any position to point fingers. Back in 2007, I wasn't too sure myself how far Murray would go. I always knew he had the talent but had my doubts about his mental strength and fitness to be able to go the distance. It wasn't until the following year when Murray won his first 2 Masters titles and made his first GS final, and began beating the Big 3 quite regularly, that I became convinced he had it in him to go the whole way.
Still, it's interesting how many people back then and even now persistently underestimate Murray as a player!

Using the logic of these boards, I think this thread conclusively proves that tusharlovesrafa = batz.
Oh, batz... how could you? Regards, MDL
