I think it's a bit extreme especially if 'first offense' or something like that and not serious criminal behavior, and it's definitely a lack of 'keeping it real' by British tennis officials, because many teenagers eat junk food, go out partying, even drinking, in many European countries. It's considered mostly alright as long as it doesn't adversely affect school work, extracurricular activities and all that. Aren't they just in early form emulating many tennis pros on main tours, yes?

CRIME:
"They were found to be publicising a lifestyle of partying, drinking and eating junk food." How dare they? I am shocked, shocked. How dare they eat junk food? (Someone has to keep patronizing the greedy, capitalist multi-national corporations--which by the way pay huge amounts to the tennis associations.) |

My favorite line was this one, by Draper,
LTA chief Roger Draper told 5live Sport: "The people they're letting down the most is themselves." He added: "They've either got to behave like professional athletes or go and do something else. Behave like professional athletes.....oh Lord, I hope he's not talking about NBA or NFL players. If so, they've got a lot to learn. BTW, I liked Andy Murray's line about it being a phase. Half the time, a tennisgeek writes that crap about the two times he's ever partied anyway....and he's exaggerating...tyring his absolute best to appear 'cool' in some way. The whole thing smacks of....effort. I do agree, though, that if they agreed not to go in Bebo, they shouldn't have gone on. Plus, it's pretty dorky and amateurish (then again, I'm married and not very hip anymore). |

slice,
It might be a phase they're going through but anyone who thinks "you can't beat Watford 4 a nyt out [sic]" has their expectations set to a such a pitifully low level the only assistance they deserve is a swift kick in the backside and a psych evaluation LOL. |

The above post ought to be required reading for those kids and their parents! Watford. I see. So not a hint of irony there? The kid's don't even know if they are being sarcastic or not. |

Federer had already started playing the main tour when he was 16, and it takes a lot of physical training at that age to become a top player, so going out and getting wasted isn't exactly helping with that. Anyway I wouldn't listen to anything that a troll like Zaragoza has to say anyway.

If I was the parent, I'd be more concerned about their writing skills: Looks like a new language is in the making.

You're right, I am not up-to-date on the invention of new languages, e.g., text-messaging.

Still it'll be interesting to see if/how their tennis playing goes in the future, we'll see if they "want it" or were just filling time by how dedecated they become from here on in. |
