The nylon string (on my prince graphite 110 - 1987 model) finally broke today after 13 yrs. I was trying to hit slice serves for the first time. I normally hit side spin / topspin serves.
Hard to remember after 13 yrs, but I think I used the thickest gauge and around the middle of the tension range. Granted, that I have not played very much in the last 13 yrs, but I think it had to be at least 300 hrs of rallying time + at least ~2500 serves. It does tell you that I do not serve too hard |

He breaks a string once every 13 years. Why would he need poly?

Wow. And the Prince Graphite is a known string-eater, too.

Are you sure you weren't just hitting those foam balls? I heard that they are not too hard on strings...

You'll save a lot of money in strings. A lot of players complain about how often they restring.

But before that, I hit with regular Penn's. I guess the large gauge, and the fact that I rarely used topspin on my shots probably helped. Or maybe I just got lucky with some super duper strings. |

its true, A friend of mine had a Old Prince Racquet, and the string of it broke almost after 10 yrs. Though he is a string breaker, but that string just did not break.
After getting it re-strung with Gosen OG 16, just like any other string, it used to break in 4-5hrs of play. Must be something with the older strings or Older Prince's.
