Default When do your senior leagues play?

All our senior (age 50 and over) leagues play on the week-end here; all adult leagues play during the week in the evenings. As you can imagine, there are some conflicts unique to week-end play that some see as contributing to a lack of growth and even a decline in senior play. I've asked the question of the leage coordinator as to why it's scheduled this way and been told, (1) it's easier to schedule seniors on the week-end because there are fewer of them and (2) some seniors don't want to play at night because of vision problems. Both of these reasons seem a little weak to me and I'm wondering what other areas do re scheduling seniors. Any thoughts about making this a more equitable schedule? Remember, if you're not a senior, you will be one day, so try to put yourself in our place. Thanks in advance for any input, ideas, info., etc.

Our senior matches are scheduled primarily on weekends however we have a couple of matches during the week this season. There is not a conscious effort to schedule matches on weekends. Weekends are generally better because it is easier for players to get to the matches as opposed to a weekday match which ususlly start at 6:00 pm. Since the facilities we play at are as much as 40 miles apart it is almost always a royal pain just getting to a weekday match.
A few guys complain about reduced vision at night but I think overall it is a small minority in our league. I have no problems playing at night.

In the spring, men's seniors play on Saturdays. In the summer and fall, mixed and combo seniors play weekday nights.

Seniors in coastal South Carolina play on Saturday mornings. I do have trouble playing at night because of sight problems if the lights are inadequate. On a lot of courts, the lights are so bad it's like playing in a fog.

Senior adult leagues in upstate South Carolina play on Sunday afternoons in the spring, Senior Mixed Doubles play on Thursday evenings and Senior Combo doubles play on Tuesday evenings, I believe. Adult league matches are played on Saturdays, mixed and combo on Sundays. But pretty much day of play and time range is all decided at the annual local meetings.

In Atlanta, Men's seniors play in the spring on Friday nights. Regular ALTA is always on Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon.
