Default Full Ride Baby!

For those who care...
My daughter signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis for the University of Wisconsin starting in the fall of '05. Can't wait to see how she does in the college environment. The coaches are awesome, the facilities are first rate, the Big 10 competition is excellent (it's not the Pac 10 but...) and Wisconsin hosts the USTA/ITA Team Indoors where the top teams participate (Wisconsin gets an automatic berth) and that will allow her to play the top players in the country (depending on what spot she plays on the team of course) each year. After years and years of planning and travelling to national tournaments, paying for lessons, shoes, racquets, strings, etc. it's going to be a strange transition time to let someone else handle everything. Might be a nice vacation for me! Also, high school tennis is officially over and I'm not coaching the team next year (retiring after a 14-0 league season) so I get that time back for other things too (like playing tennis myself). Just thought I needed to tell someone who might actually be interested.

Congratulations, that must be a great feeling for your efforts to come to fruition...My parents both went to UW Madison(back before Ahnold was there), I've been there a few times, HUGE campus!

I go to madison...So i get to watch them practice and play every now and then.

Frankly, it's not the strongest team in the nation...But they seem have great chemistry and get along well.

Congrats!

I go to Minnesota so now I have to hate your daughter along with everyone that goes to that school. I'm obviously kidding, it is a really good school and my second choice. But it is my dream to play D1, so congrats to your daughter, that is a lot of hard work finally paying off. One of my friends has a full tennis ride here, and I'm just jealous of everything that he gets to do with it.

Congrats, BoD! I'm sure you are very proud for her -- have some champaigne, or beer, or some pizza, or a cigar, or whatever pleases you; she deserves it.

Awesome facilities. What I wouldn't give for access to indoor courts like those.

Good job, but do you think all the money you've spent on her tennis (travel, lessons, gear etc....) over many, many years would equal or exceed the actual tuition cost? Just a curious question.
