I have read this thread but still confused. I understand that some 630's were made in Austria, others in China and still others Designed in Austria and
Made in the Czech Republic. If there is no inscripted designation on the handle does that mean it could be made in China or the Czech Republic. I am considering purchasing such a racket. Are there any manufacturing issues if it is made in a particular country. Thanks for the input and sorry if this has been repeatedly clarified. |

The Pro Tour 280 has a little different history. After it was discontinued the Pro Tour 280 was brought back for the U.S. market in 2000 as a SMU for the big box stores like sports authority and big Internet accounts like TW. Those Pro Tour 280 will have made in China printed on the inside of the throat. But at the end of Austrian Production for the Pro Tour 280 designed in Austria was written on the side of the racquet. Those racquets were manufactured in Austria and finished in the Czech Republic. You can tell a Designed in Austria racquet that is Manufactured in Austria by: The black butt cap with the silver hologram stick and it will have written on the same side of the frame with Designed in Austria HEAD BarCode Label Inside. All Designed in Austria frames with the words HEAD Barcode Label Inside were manufactured in Austria.

Are their any 630's that do not have a made in Austria or designed on the handle above the grip. I have located one with out such a designation so a bit wary? Thanks for any responses.

I saw it at T*rerack.
Michelin PIlot (PS, PS2, etc) is the best tire...the lightest, more feel, predictable, beast wet & dry traction, etc. I have tried most of tires for my 3 series with Bridgestone, Pirelli, Kumho, Yoko, Dunlop, etc.. My Babolat shoes has Michelin soles.....will Babolat racket use Twaron? Will Head use Twaron again? |

Hi VSBabolat I hav question for you.
I currently use 2x pro tour 630's made in Austria with trek font. I love them but just struggle to find where I can buy any more. However, I always see the 280's for sale but don't think that they will somehow be the same. I remember reading earlier las year the differences that the 280's are different but wanted a professional opinion before contemplating the change. I feel this chane will be better as there are more 280's around and therefore the more I can get the longer I will be able to use them. Hope you can answer my question Harry.

'high-grip resistance'.... I would not want my tires to resist grip...
A question for the club: Since the PT630's/280's/TGK's/PT57a's are either 1.) hard to find and/or 2.) If found usually costly.... what do you guys use as replacements from the readily available tennis market? Is there are any racquet that can be used in place of these?

These famous molds have been attempted by other companies (virtually every company out there) and I remember reading a review by PT630 a year ago on the BLX Pro Tour and how Wilson had done a good job duplicating some of the properties that the PT630/280 frames are revered for..... So, my question is still open to the club.... What (out of the frames produced for mass consumption) do you substitute for the 630/280? Are there are frames that share their characteristics?

The Babolat Pure Storm LTD is similar to the PT's in the power level, flex, and directional control. Although, the PT280 (only one i've tried) feels more fiberglass like than the PSLTD. The sweetspot on the PT280 is also more uniform. The PSLTD is in the ballpark though.

I just purchased a PT280 on Flea Bay. It has some wear(scratches etc) but structurally looks sound. However, the stringing label indicates it is a 16X19 string pattern, while clearly after counting the strings it is an 18x20 pattern. On one the side of the frame it says Head and under that Made in Austria and the other side in red bold lettering is Pro Tour 280. At 12:00 inside the head is written mp) Lastly the bottom of the butt cap is silver.
Does this racket sound authentic? Could it be an earlier model and were errors made on the labeling? Looking for reassurance. I have photos but not adept on how to post. |
