i am usually the one that denounces the whole "paint job" argument.
but i know from first hand knowledge, at least of her wilson frames. whatever they are supposed to look like, is nothing near close to what they actually are. |

here's my whole stance...do both federer and serena use custom frames? yes.
however with federer, the mold used to make his racquet and the materials are not far off from the mold used to make the ncode 90. for serena....wilson used to have a little corner put away in the pro room just for all the "oddities" that have been created for the williams sisters. i heard a story that when the rep from wilson went down to their training facility to sell them on wilson he brought three racquets. a prostaff, a huge hammer, and a third racquet that was more of a player's hammer. they just kept going from racquet to the other hitting the same. they are incredible talents. i myself have seen frames with all kinds of custom colors, paints jobs, handles....most recently i saw some racquets getting strung with an h6 paintjob that had powerholes, yes powerholes. they're a demanding pair and change their minds alot. very fickle. my eye hasn't gotten the time or within reach of their actual playing frames to know the actual differences. only the powerholes racquet was the only one i got to hold in my hand and see. they were supposed to be just practice racquets but whatever. don't know if tha't strue or not. |

Prostaffer, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who thinks you are making sh*t up. If not, will you please try to be more factual in your posts?

I've read that she uses the Wilson 6.4 with Power Holes. I have no way of verifying, but that is what I have read.

look i've been in wilson's pro room. not lately and not on a regular basis. i consider myself educated in racqet lines and what wilson has to offer but what can i be more specific about? i worry about being too specific sometimes since i would like to be invited back. i'm not sure what they would like me to see and they wouldn't want me to see.
i see frames after they are painted too....i have playtested black frames but i've never come in contact with pro frames until after they have been painted. therefore when i see serena's racquet the only thing i can make out is that they have power holes in them. i can't measure the geometry of the racquet head, measure out it's actual dimensions, i never have the time. i can only tell you what i have been given, playtested, and seen. the person who allows me such access and great information is someone i consider a good friend. that is why i don't want to go posting his business on the internet trying to impress people i don't know. that is why i'm not very specific at times. that is also why i can't always trust what he's telling me. sometimes i think he's giving me the company line, sometimes he's being genuine. am i waste of pixels? hell i bet i know more than the people that type that. isn't my somewhat educated crap more informative than the crap that trolls and other's post here? i'll put it to you this way...unless the h6 came with powerholes, i doubt the racquet you think she's using is the same one that's in stores. fed's racquet....which i've seen, my other friend who is a much more accomplished stringer and play tester than i am, says the racquet is damn close to the ncode90. our wilson guy claims teh difference in fed's racquet from the store version is minimal. |

you've found me out. damn, how will i ever impress the people on an internet board now.
boards everywhere are like this. i check out so many nike boards because i'm a big sneaker freak, and like this board now, i always see people who actually have useful information and eventually haters come to the forefront. what do you want to hear from me that will prove to you i'm telling the truth? oh that's right nothing. you have no idea what can prove i'm telling the truth, so how can you prove that i'm not? btw, wilson recently moved their pro room back in march. they moved it to smaller facility within their corporate headquarters here in chicago. they used to be on elmhurst road near des plaines, il and are now housing their wonderful racquet lines in the corporate office on cumberland ave in norridge/harwood heights, il. i don't know anything. |
