Default Has anyone ever tried to put together a super team?

Like the best of the best from their respective states in an attempt to see just how good you can make it? I would be interested!

I don't think this is feasible in most states because people could reside hours away from where the matches are and it would be pointless to join the team. I know this occurs in areas within say a 50 mile radius though.

NorCal has many people attempting to do this. (Most NorCal players are within a 50 mile radius. I've heard of some from farther away driving in for their two matches.) Due to the apparently unique NorCal rules, the best players at a level can often be on several super teams at the same time. Heck, the whole team can be registered at the same level playing in several different areas at the same time. However, come playoffs, each player has to pick one team, so often this is where it all breaks down.

No. I simply enjoy playing. I doesn't make the sport more enjoyable to play with a bunch of people I don't know, than to play with my regular club members.

Putting together a superteam is extremely difficult. There's always at least someone, if not several someones, whose feelings are hurt if they are not selected for the superteam over their peers. Grown men don't know their own limitations, and egos take over. It tends to become to internally competative, typically resulting in poor sportsmanship. It frequently destroys the social aspect of team tennis. Everyone wants to win and winning is fun, but not at the expense of friendship.
