I haven't played since August last year and I have the following:
* Wilson Prostaff Original 6.0 85 * Wilosn Prostaff Tour90 (mid) * Head Prestige Classic (mid) * Head Prestige Liquidmetal (mid) However, I'm getting bored by these and want something new. What should I go for to bring me up-to-date? |

Plenty of old school vibe in the Donnay Pro One ltd edition from TW. Narrow beam construction and an ocean of feel and control. Reminds me a lot more of a modern mid than a midplus despite the 95 sq. in. head and it's a sweet player for me - very capable both at the baseline and up at net.

Try the Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex. All the rackets you list are similar. The AeroPro will give you a different feel.

If you don't mind going for a larger head, the kblade 98 is a great choice!

It has that reputation and can I can get great spin, but I think of it as a good all-around stick with *very* good power. No problems hitting flat if that's what you want. I also play the KB98 mentioned here and while the racquets are similar spec-wise, this one has a better sense of touch and feel. Subjectively more comfortable too, but no issues so far with the APDC either. Give the O3 Black a try too, I liked that in my demos, but the APDC won out.

Babolat Pure Storm Limited looks like it should be a monster of a stick too for those wanting old-school characteristics like thin box beam but with a more modern mid-flex and huge potential for weight modification.

RDS 001 mid - (a bit stiffer, but very comfortable and precise)
K90 - (incredible racquet -- great feel, great stability, good weight) Redondo - (if you like a bit more flexy)

The thing is about Wilson racquets, I did try a couple of them back in 2005:
Wilson ProStaff Tour90 Wilson nCode Tour90 I ended up really hurting the inside of my elbow using either, so I'm wary of the K90 or the K-Blade. So, I then tried a Babolat Pure-Drive Team+, which funnily enough has a stiffer rating than the Wilson's but seem to feel okay on my arm! (maybe my techniqyue was poor?). I ended up selling this to a friend who is a Roddick-Freak!. So then I tried the Head racquets and have used both since the end of 2006. I don't think my local tennis-centre allows demo-ing of racquets so I may have to go for broke, shell out some money for one and see how it goes.... |
