Default Turf Toe

Anyone develop turf toe as a result of tennis? If it's not one injury, it's another... hate getting old!

yeah and it really sucks. I can't push off very well and as a result, tracking down balls is tough. I'm not sure there is much you can do except RICE and anti-inflammatories.

Using a silicone toe cap in conjunction with thicker (cotton) socks should prevent another incident of turf toe and may allow you to continue playing: http://www.feetrelief.com/feetrelief/gel_toe_cap.html

With turf toe, I've had a lot of success using tree tea oil to speed up healing/save the toe nail; regular application of tree tea oil on the toe has proved very successful with many athletes I know (tennis, hockey, soccer) in reducing pain/swelling and preventing infection and/or fungus from setting in. Only caveat is that the oil isn't pleasant smelling and will sting like the bejeesus if it comes into contact with your eyes; use a q-tip to apply and wash your hands liberally after applying the stuff.
