Default What's a good price on an olympic barbell set?

I went to a Sports Authority in the neighborhood and it was on sale for $159.99 (regular $199.99). This includes the 7'-olympic size bar with 300 lbs of weights.

But I think back when I lived in another state, Dick's Sporting Goods regularly had these for $109.99.

Am I mistaken? What's a good sale price on a set like this?

No bench. Just a 45-lb bar and 300-lbs of plates.

Why don't you get an Eleiko competition Olympic bar. This way you can train for Olympic lifts like a world class athlete.

http://www.dynamic-eleiko.com/products/elbars.htm

It only costs $900.

Obviously I'm just kidding about getting the Eleiko bar. That's the kind of bar that's used with bumper plates for serious Olympic weightlifting.

I'm curious about this subject as well. I've been considering getting an Olympic weight set but I've been putting off doing any research. I'm interested in what you eventually decide to get.

You can usually get a good set for 99 bucks. I had the whole 9 before I worked at a gym, but moving can be a hassle. I wound up giving away my weight set and boy do I have some regrets. Make sure you have ample room in your place and I hope you don't plan on moving for a while.

I do have plenty of room. In fact, I have 4 bedrooms that are not being used, so I have converted one into a fitness room.

That's great to know. I knew the price was lower. I will wait for the bigger sale.

Holy crap, a hair test? They don't even do a pee test over here, let alone a hair test.

It was 15 years ago but yeah back then they did the hair. The store manager actually told me the only reason he was hiring a 16 year old was because about 10 people failed the test before me. Also, two weeks before I started the entire receiving department was arrested and fired because the were pulling a pickup truck to the back of the store and driving off with whatever.

Wild world of retail it was a fun job though.
