Whatever dampener comes with the racquet stays on there after each restring so mine's a black Yonex.

Technically, that's illegal.

Use rubber band. Cheap, tied to string and never fly off. Anyway... use whatever you like as long as you think it is helping your game. I doubt any dampener or rubber band neutralize the vibration, just mute or lessen the ping sound only.

Yep, but I don't play USTA so I'll never have to worry about it.

I used the one that came with my racquet until it fell off, noticed I liked the feel much better, and haven't used one since. I also recently realized that a number of pros don't use one, e.g., Federer, Murray.

Used one for years, then used a rubber band, and then forgot to put one on. Haven't used one since.

@ corbine. I really like that dampener, it would never fall off .
I use really stiff poly string so I do need a vibration dampener other wise its really uncomfortable and probably unhealthy. I hit quite hard and like the damp feel anyway so the lack of feel isnt an issue.

Using the volkl and the big pacific "o" damps in some dense pattern rackets I have. I noticed now they are fitted, two of the mains are pushed noticeably out to the left and the right just to squeeze them in. Is this a big no-no? Should I swap them for a smaller damp so the mains/crosses sit flush?
