Okey so I have the chance to buy a brand new Head Pyramid Tour (630)... could any write something about this frame?

i have one in brand new since last year... still wondering whether i should string it up and try.....?
would like to hear how this racquet play....?

I used to have a couple of those frames. They were supposed to have more control than the Prestige line. This racquet was fun to hit around with for me. The frame itself was pretty flexible, so you could really go for shots. The control was really good as well. The power of the frame comes mostly from the user, but the frame will reward a big swing if you connect with the sweetspot. Blocked shots were not as effective. I did not love it at net, nor did I love serving with it. The racquet head because it is extended up higher in the frame seemed as big as a 95 or 98 sq. in. frame. Alot of friends commented to me that they thought I was playing with an oversize racquet based on the headshape and the power I was able to generate. I did not love playing matches with this frame, because of the big swings I had to take to get a decent shot. I found myself overplaying shots and really going for way too much. Blocked shots or anything less than a full swing really sat up for my opponents. Despite the tight string pattern, I was able to get really good topspin. Slice seemed to sit up because of the big swings needed to generate the shot. I had some of the most fun I have ever had playing tennis with this frame- just not during matches.

I wish I knew everything about it. I do know it is a 93 sq. in. head. I believe 18x19, but I am not sure. Its got to be around 12 oz.

Nah! The Pyramid Tour has a 18x20 string pattern...

With a layer of head tape and overgrip it is:

You're wondering whether to string a tennis racquet and play tennis with it??
As opposed to what? Serving pancakes with it? Hanging it on your wall as a decoration?
As far as I know, the purpose of a tennis racquet is to facilitate the playing of tennis.
Of course you should string it and use it - that's what it was made for.

Are brand new racquets meant to be used for something other than playing tennis?

I dunno... for me, a person acqures a razor to shave; acquires a carrot to eat; acquires a phone to communicate; and acquires a tennis racquet to play tennis.

I see your point... but, there is something about a tennis racquet... especially one that is 15, 20 or 30 years old and still in brand new condition. It's a thing of beauty... kind of like art in a way

Yes... and that's all the more reason to bring it out on the court and use it for its intended purpose, rather than wasting its wonderful potential by hanging it on a wall, or by passing it from person to person as each tries to make a $20 profit on it.

Only bad, crappy racquets should be collected, or sold, or hung on the wall. Good racquets - especially those that are at least 15 years old - should be used to play tennis.

Me and a friend bought a couple of those Pyramid Tours when they came on the market here in Sweden.

I remember seeing a tour pro use this racket (don´t remember if it was Grant Stafford or Guillaume Raoux or maybe both) and it looked so nice and made such a clean sound when striking the ball., so we orderd them and used them for a while.

It is extremely low in power. It´s less powerful then the PC600 for example. The PC600 had swing index L6 or L7 in Head´s Scale, and the pyramid had L8..

It was really well made and the quality was breathtaking. It had a nice black/darkblue design and a Head Calfskingrip and a semi CAP system (lokated from approx 9 to 3 on the rackethead.

If you are a player that constantly hit the ball long this can be a good choice, and you really have to be a 6+ player to enjoy it fully.

I have had some time with this frame. Definitely a great playing frame; I liken it to an easier swinging PT630. I typically string my frames loose so I never had any power issues. I also liked this frame at the net as well although I can see where it can take getting used to. Had it not been for the racquet breaking issues, I may have picked up a whole lot more of these frames.
